yeah I installed a mirror hanging from the ceiling above my bed (very proud, did it all by myself)

Ahh makes sense, biting my nails since I can think, I kinda got it down to peeling off my nail polish. Still looks terrible most of the time, my nails are never nice because of that, but it's an improvement I guess

and obviously once the polish is gone I'm back at my nails

You can also get yourself a foot mask, they are basically sock socks with exfoliant cream in there. You wear them for a bit and in the next few days you'll start shedding like a snake.

Very weird, but I'd recommend trying it's kinda funny
