All nine of our amazing city councillors (Emily Kerr is a carboard cutout however) at January's meeting!! Holding a cardboard green 9.
Our successful amendments will shape Oxford's long-term planning strategy, helping make a fairer, greener city as Oxford develops over the next 20 years. π
We did all this with just 9 councillors - imagine what we could do with a few more!!!

Bar chart showing seats that would be won by Oxford parties in the May election if the Gorton and Denton swing was replicated in oxford. Greens would win half of all seats up for election, while labour would win zero.
If the Gorton and Denton swing was replicated across Oxford, the Greens would win HALF of all seats - gaining 7 and holding 5. This would make us the biggest group on the council meanwhile Labour would be wiped out, losing 11 councillors.

BOOTS ON THE GROUND >>>> BILLIONAIRE BACKERS!!
We won in Gorton and Denton because we outnumbered Reform and Labour combined- proving activists, not big-money donors win elections. If we're to take on (and take down) Starmer and Farage in Oxford, the work needs to start now.

Fascinating how these Labour MPs have found moral standing as soon as they realise their seats might be at threat. It's almost like they are careerists with no values. Don't get me wrong, opposing Mahmood's immigration proposals is good. But where were they when these heinous proposals were made?

Save Common Ground
Uni development threatens beloved local venue and local shopping street.
The current proposal:
Does not secure spaces for existing venues (like common ground and nest)
Will remove almost a quarter of the shop space from Little Clarendon street
Will cause high levels of emissions when compared to renovating
Is opposed by many residents and students alike
Respond to the consultation at the link in this post!
Quite from Green Candidate for Carfax & Jericho, Sushila Shall: "Oxford is more than just the university - my time as a student was so wonderful precisely because of the local shops and community spaces that make up the fabric of this city. Students and locals alike want to see community spaces like Common Ground protected."
Save Common Ground!! Jericho Green candidate Sushila is standing against plans that threaten little clarendon street and valued local community spaces like Common Ground and Nest.

Government abandons plans to delay 30 council elections
Ministers had planned to delay the polls until 2027 to help deliver a major reorganisation of local government.
Labour - again - showing such disrespect and lack of consideration for local government and communities.
Cancelling the election cancellation, this last minute back and forth, is causing so much unnecessary stress for so many people across the country.

Promoted by Chris Williams on behalf of The Green Party, both at PO Box 78066, London SE169GQ
Keir Starmer knew that Peter Mandelson continued his close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein's conviction for child sex offences.
He brought him into the heart of the Labour government anyway.
Starmer cannot continue as Prime Minister. He must go.

Umur is dying and his fellow strikers remain imprisoned without trial - as the government continues plans to restrict jury trials and crack down on the right to protest. Umur & the prisoners need our support, desperately.

Green councillors propose Oxford City council motion in support of Hunger Strikers.
Umur Khalid faces imminent death, yet the UK government remains SILENT.
Umur and his fellow strikers have been held on remand for over a year - despite not being found guilty of any crime.
Whilst imprisoned, the strikers have been subject to numerous human rights abuses and denied medical care.
As a result of their strikes, many will sustain lifelong injuries.
On day 4 of his thirst strike, Umur now faces imminent death unless the Government negotiate.
The motion for tonight's council meeting calls for the council to pressure the Government to meet with the representatives of those on strike, enter negotiations with the strikers, and protect the human rights of all prisoners on remand.
π¨ TONIGHT: Oxford City Council faced a motion proposed by the Oxford Green group in solidarity with the hunger strikers.
