In January, Green City Councillors secured BIG WINS in the 2045 Local Plan:
💷 Promoting the Oxford Living Wage for ALL workers across Oxford.
🍻 Securing greater protections for local pubs.
⚡ Supporting local, community-owned renewable energy.
🛝 Creating new playground spaces in our city centre!

If the Gorton and Denton swing was replicated across Oxford, the Greens would win HALF of all seats - gaining 7 and holding 5. This would make us the biggest group on the council meanwhile Labour would be wiped out, losing 11 councillors.

We won in Gorton and Denton because we outnumbered Reform and Labour combined- proving activists, not big-money donors win elections. If we're to take on (and take down) Starmer and Farage in Oxford, the work needs to start now.
Fascinating how these Labour MPs have found moral standing as soon as they realise their seats might be at threat. It's almost like they are careerists with no values. Don't get me wrong, opposing Mahmood's immigration proposals is good. But where were they when these heinous proposals were made?

Keir Starmer knew that Peter Mandelson continued his close relationship with Jeffrey Epstein after Epstein's conviction for child sex offences.
He brought him into the heart of the Labour government anyway.
Starmer cannot continue as Prime Minister. He must go.

Umur is dying and his fellow strikers remain imprisoned without trial - as the government continues plans to restrict jury trials and crack down on the right to protest. Umur & the prisoners need our support, desperately.
Green councillors propose Oxford City council motion in support of Hunger Strikers. Umur Khalid faces imminent death, yet the UK government remains SILENT.
Umur and his fellow strikers have been held on remand for over a year - despite not being found guilty of any crime. Whilst imprisoned, the strikers have been subject to numerous human rights abuses and denied medical care. As a result of their strikes, many will sustain lifelong injuries. On day 4 of his thirst strike, Umur now faces imminent death unless the Government negotiate.
The motion for tonight's council meeting calls for the council to pressure the Government to meet with the representatives of those on strike, enter negotiations with the strikers, and protect the human rights of all prisoners on remand.
