EXC: Nigel Farage defends Reform-run Kent County Council increasing council tax by 3.99% despite election leaflets last year pledging to โreduce waste and cut your taxesโ.
Mr Farage told ITV News Meridian: โCutting taxes can be not putting them up as much, I suppose.โ
Imagine this but itโs a major incident in the news, trad and social media full of misinformation and insults for your colleagues
Brilliant. An expat im Dubai has a startling revelation, by @stephencollins.bsky.social
Quick post post about UK politics while the US is asleep
The right wing media have an unpopular Labour government and a far right party leading in the polls constantly saying horrendous things for them to print. Theyโve had their birthday, Christmas, anniversary and bank holiday come all at once
I am slowly coming to the view that we will rejoin the EU in some capacity at some point. Just depends on how much pain people want to go through, how well it can called out and how far we want to go. Calling for an open and honest debate doesnโt mean it will be any better though than last time
Nazis are people, some of the worst people in history. They donโt deserve respect or kindness from people
Thatโs not very nice Iโm sure it was trying itโs best
happy anniversary of christopher columbus mistaking manatees for mermaids and complaining about how mid they were
Republican bullies deploy more threats against the UK to protect their big tech corporate allies.
One example of how Grok is being used to target women. Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch being sexualised, degraded, and humiliated step-by-step by Grok. All the images accurately reflect the prompts provided.
Why when it comes to the online safety act it's 'think of the children' but when it comes to getting rid of the two child cap it's screw the kids
Why Wikipedia editors have deleted entries from the โList of unusual deathsโ: โhippos are extremely dangerous and very aggressive and there is nothing unusual about hippos killing peopleโ โthe man was working on the toilet, making his death inherently less strange than if he had been using itโ โno longer an unusual or unique occurrenceโ regarding impalement by beach umbrella โbeing hit by multiple motorcycles in a race is not an unusual deathโ โfatalities involving objects or animals being launched into oncoming traffic are considered commonplaceโ regarding a Canadian coupleโs fatal collision with a โflying bearโ
recently discovered that wikipedia volunteers have a hilariously high bar for what constitutes "unusual death"
This is how we beat reform not by agreeing with them but calling them out
I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this
Despite being an MP for over a year he still doesnโt seem to quite understand how this works
More disturbing reporting from The Nerve.
How can a scrappy startup in 3 weeks leave BBC trailing in its coverage of Russian interference in our politics?
A growing number of Labour voices now demanding Keir Starmer start taking on Elon Musk and the far-right.
Here Labour MP Noah Law writes for Byline Times on why it's time for the Government to quit Twitter and start treating Musk as the 'foreign extremist' he now is

I messaged a few politics reporters live reporting from the conference, to ask why they hadnโt given the same (or any) coverage to the conferences of the DUP, Greens and Plaid Cymru - all of whom have the same seats as Reform
I got no response and one blocked me

From @wired.com is spot on:
A new โpureโ momentum based left wing political party that is meant to be completely against bigotry that starts with Jeremy Corbyn as itโs leader and immediately starts promoting an outspoken transphobe. Even the daily mail couldnโt come up with that.
Rep. Jamie Raskin tears into Nigel Farage as a "far-right pro-Putin politician" and a "Donald Trump sycophant and wannabe".
Can we invite this guy to speak in parliament
When centrists adopt far-right rhetoric, they donโt make themselves stronger. They make themselves look inauthentic, legitimise the far right, and shift the political debate onto terrain defined by their opponents.

โThe government getting on national TV to warn that VPNs let people slip past age verification,โ Scott-Railton said, โmight be the slickest free advertising the VPN industry has ever received.โ
I canโt believe how bad the UK government is at doing what it thinks itโs trying to do.
I mean this is already the case on twitter/x. We are far beyond x being any sort of reasonable place. My MP just disables replies cos there is no point.
A reminder: Asylum seekers are in hotels because of a huge application backlog that the gov't must work through. Robert Jenrick - now, bursting with creative solutions - processed applications slowly ***on purpose*** as a deterrent.
Here he is, as Immigration Minister two years ago, saying so. ~AA
