2 min ago Timing of US-Israel attack on Iran bears symbolic meaning in Judaism Tal Shalev By Tal Shalev The timing of the US and Israeli attack on Iran bears symbolic meaning in Judaism. Ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday of Purim, worshippers read the specific portion from the Old Testament, known as Zachor. The passage from the book of Deuteronomy commands the ancient Israelites to remember an unprovoked attack by the nation of Amalek and to eradicate the memory of Amalek once the Israelites are settled in their land. The passage is read publicly before Purim to fulfil the mitzvah of remembering Amalek as Israelβs achetypical enemy.
This is what CNN is publishing even before the Ellisons come in
Omg
Of course. I certainly understand that not everyone is in a position to do this! Thanks for laying the foundationβ¦
"Defund the police" only lacks specificity to liberals who chanted it as a slogan in 2020 but didn't really mean it
More anticipatory compliance at Florida State. Kudos to @annaposbergh.bsky.social for choosing professional ethics over thinly veiled bigotry
FLβs state legislature is currently working to pass SB 1296, which would require a majority of workers in a bargaining unit β not a majority of voters, but majority of workersβ to vote yes.
Imagine if FLβs state elections proceeded this way. Not a single member of the senate would win a seat!

This is an important round-up of Red States' going after higher education from @perrybaconjr.bsky.social featuring my recent interview with @grundrza.bsky.social on censorship in Florida.
Not only is that something annoying that liberals like to shout on social media, but it's also individualistic and unstrategic. Don't flee; fight it!
And a Hillsdale PhD at that
The person behind this was recommended to DeSantis by Larry Arnn so yes
Itβs an online open-source textbook
Here's another one I co-authored in the @sun-sentinel.com
Here's an op/ed I co-authored in the @orlandosentinel.com
There are two WLRN pieces, an Inside Higher Ed piece, and then a two-part interview I did with @victorerikray.bsky.social on this, first part here:
Absolutely. But the original post didn't suggest it's not an issue at universities; it stated that the screenshot directives were sent to all colleges yesterday. Universities didn't receive these directives; they received phone calls from the Board of Governors' staff ordering faculty to comply.
I ask myself that every day. He was my dissertation chair.
Because they live in Florida? π€―
Clearly youβve examined my syllabi π€«
No, move to Florida and fight back!
Can you explain what you mean?
Why? Some of us prefer to stay here and fight it
They are, and I teach sociology at a Florida university. But this screenshot is from a document that was sent to colleges only. They havenβt put these directives in writing for university professors, but they have threatened us if we donβt use their recommended textbook. Search for WLRN coverage.
