A good way to handle long wipes with high geared players is to still have ways for newer players to beat them. I remember how satisfying it was to kill someone with a cheap Mosin in Tarkov haha. It'll all depend on how the progression speed is though, especially for those who have less time. 2/2
I'm mixed on Marathon doing wipes, but I'm sort of used to it after putting 1k hours into Rust a while ago. Back then, I think I mostly did monthly wipes. Some of the best times are when everyone's at the same playing level as opposed to high geared players dumping on everyone. 1/2

Yeah, I've noticed they take a while if ever to update the staff page of websites they acquire. They also tend to leave info about the previous owners as if they still own the site too. Probably trying to further hide their connection and skate on the credibility of past staff.
YouTube thumbnails for Roblox continue to be terrible. I'm writing a guide about secrets in a game, and several videos put fake stuff in their thumbnail. Unsurprisingly, they never address the big reveal that's in their thumbnail.
Not sure how well-known the situation is for people who aren't in the press. Especially after looking through Reddit posts and Wikipedia discussions about Clickout. It's only a matter of time until all their sites go the Techopedia route though.
Had a solid solo Rook escape in Marathon at a guarded exfil against two players teaming up. The UESC defended the exfil while I escaped using Rook's disguise ability haha
Random claymores in Marathon make me sad as a solo player. But otherwise, I'm having a mostly good experience so far haha. I'm more surprised that solo queue exists. Usually extraction games let you go in solo, but rarely restrict it to solos.

Saw a clearly genAI site attempting to copy a couple of my guides, where they added incorrect information and made things up. It's annoying in the short term, but it shows that they'll continue to fail. So like you said, just keep doing the good work.

Looking at screenshots they use in their guides makes it easy to notice which ones they're ripping from elsewhere. I already noticed one guide where they took three of my screenshots from an IGN High on Life 2 guide I wrote.
They're probably hoping nobody will notice since they're trying to hide that they're doing it. But like you said, it's only hurting them more than anything.

Forcing gambling content and fake writers into gaming media is going to repeatedly backfire for these brands. Google doesn't like it and people don't either. Future Videogamer reviews won't be on Metacritic now. This sort of stuff also ends up with sites no longer being cited on Wikipedia too.
Pretty sure DualShockers made the same mistake when they were caught using a fake writer too.
Yeah, I wouldn't trust anything owned by Clickout Media at this point. It's either gambling or may have genAI involved.
Regarding gaming media layoffs, I guess a lot of people still don't know that they're mostly tied to Google's Helpful Content Update. It completely nuked many websites. And then prioritized showing forums, spam occasionally, and unreliable AI overviews. It's also a massive issue outside gaming.
Wonder how many people in games media are left at this point. Especially full-time.
