Congratulations! Llongyfarchiadau!
Iβm none the wiser even after reading the whole description. GΔmini SalgΔdo is a name from the past. Professor at Exeter, scholar of Lawrence.
Best response: Samuel Beckett, βΒ‘UPTHEREPUBLIC!β
I fear so. Itβs from Nancy Cunardβs Authors Take Sides on the Spanish War. Machen was one of only 5 pro-Franco authors (others included Waugh and Blunden, the rotters). 16 neutrals (including Eliot, Wells, and surprisingly Pound). 127 pro-Republican, including, bizarrely, Aleister Crowley.
βMr Arthur Machen presents his compliments and begs to inform that he is, and always has been, entirely for General Franco.β Boo!!
Same here! White Palace in Ponty. Last film I saw there was Flashdance. Also the Parc and Dare in Treorchy. Definitely saw Star Wars in the Odeon in Cardiff in 78.
Alas alas, M. R. James was not an admirer of Jane Harrison, the old rotter.
The ghost of the Cambridge classical scholar Jane Harrison haunts the pages of Virginia Woolfβs A Room of One's Own (1929). Here's my post on the layers of connections, for over 30 years, these two writers shared.
Yay! I am working on an article on Wheatley right now!

Would you believe, me and Colm TΓ³ibΓn talking about James Herbertβs The Rats!
A bit of both, Ian!
My goodness! That takes me back!
I once tore out an entire toenail, completely down to the root, while putting on a pair of trousers.
The Devil, obvs.
Oh, I liked it! Took lots of notes. Particularly liked the closing section.
Yes I have!
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, Greg!
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda!
Blwyddyn Newydd Dda, Luke!
Hard to argue with that choice.
A bestselling occult novelist of pronounced right-wing views.
Congratulations! Llongyfarchiadau!!
Thank you!!
