Movie night is Shakespeare in Love. It is a testament to Stoppard - and Shakespeare himself! - that my kids are enthralled. Amazing.

Haven't watched in years!
TEN DAYS?!?!? WTF is going on at Ft. Bliss?
Today was, in fact, better. I can put one of my stack of three rings on my finger, so thatβs progress.
In the last 36 hours I (a) burned the roof of my mouth so badly I have a raw spot that bled when I brushed my teeth, (b) put a chair down on an existing injured spot on my foot & (c) caught my knuckle in the car door and my ring finger swelled up so much I almost couldnβt get my rings off.
Tonightβs movie: Best in Show, one of the best ever from the late, great Catherine OβHara.
A bees knees with bourbon! I will have to try that! I ended up doing an amaro old fashioned.
Movie night tonight is Song Sung Blue. Kate Hudson is amazing in this and also the entire late 80s setting is π€π.
I closed a deal today. By tradition, I make myself a deal closing cocktail. But Iβm bored of my usuals (old fashioned, martini, paper plane). Please recommend something! I have bourbon, gin, vodka, tequila, good rum, plus various liqueurs (including amaros and St. Germain) and all the bitters.
I guess I shouldnβt be surprised when this administration uses the most egregiously incorrect interpretation of these kinds of programs to paint a target on them. But in this case, I really am surprised.
This is really appalling.
Spouse broke a glass in the kitchen several months ago. We cleaned up all the shards and didn't think about it again. Until today when I needed to get behind the fridge and, in the process, stepped on a small shard that made its way under the fridge. SO MUCH BLOOD ON MY KITCHEN FLOOR.
It was 48 degrees at the time.
Went to the grocery store. People were wearing 2 kinds of things: ordinary mid-week work clothes (including a guy in short sleeves and one lady in heels) and Full Ski Vacation (UGGs, ski jackets, giant beanies, layered sweatshirts).
Was finally able to get the car out of the garage yesterday, which required two successive days of chipping away at the ice in the shady part of the hilly part of the driveway.
Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.
Every other hotel in the area (and even the Placemakr) have both of those amenities, and for basically the same price. The lack of a gym is only an issue it's MLK Day and the fitness center at my office building is closed. The smart TV, though...that's a basic amenity at even budget hotels nowadays.
Booked a different hotel than my usual this trip, though I've stayed here before (it's been several years). I'm saving about $50 over 2 nights but the hotel has no fitness center and no smart TV. First world problems, I guess, but also shockingly out of market for this area and price range.
Hey friends? Do you strap a neck pillow to your backpack when traveling? Try to make sure it doesnβt smack seated passengers in the face as you walk down the aisle, ok?

Tonightβs movie with the kids is Smokey and the Bandit. Thereβs a lot cultural explanation going on, like the national 55 mph speed limit.
Ah! I thought maybe they were gougères. They look lovely!
14 got a phone call during dinner. Was a neighbor boy asking if she wanted to hang out with him and his friend tonight. We ask the friendβs name and it turns out heβs the nephew of Mr Dβs friend of 35 years. This city is big, but actually small.
Been dealing with some foot pain for a couple of months so went to get fitted at the good shoe store. Hilariously, I ended up the same brand they put me in 15 years ago.
14 was real mad at the ending.
Watching Inception with the kids. Itβs been a minute since Iβve watched this movie and watching it with them is trippy.
On the 5th day of Christmas (1) the vet had to clip a broken dewclaw that looked sooooo painful and (2) our downstairs furnace stopped working, 18 hours after a 40Β° temp drop.
Tonight, enjoying the bittersweet joy of Spinal Tap II, whose (close to) first lines are delivered by the late, great Rob Reiner.
We donβt have to pay for out public school bus BUUUUUT for my 5th grader, it picks up 40 minutes before the bell and we live 1.5 miles away soooo I just drive him and let him get more sleep.
Wake Up Dead Man is soooooo good.
