I’m not sure they’d be willing to hang in for that. Many of them struggle and are far less likely to push themselves in their final semester.
I love it! My favorite moment while teaching that book came from a student who I wasn’t sure was even awake for most of it. We read the part aloud when her father steals the money from the piggy bank. Then I hear “That’s f***ed up, Miss.” “Yes, yes it is.”
It’s a favorite of mine as well. I taught it a few years ago in a different district. Definitely at the top of my list.
