Opens with a wah-wah pedal intro, the wah-wah pedal was fairly new in 1968. Hendrix used it to spine-tingling effect on the song, switching between rhythm & lead, with the riffs & solos swaying left to right in a hypnotic fashion.

I got called a boomer… That’s damn funny. I have 2 older brothers that are boomers, we are separated by 7-8 yrs. Parents were Silent Generation. GenX and I’m cool with that..

Ohio, Fortunate Son, What’s Going On, Blowin In The Wind, For What It’s Worth… just to name a few. Not hearing the same thing out of the popular young artists of right now. It’s brave to possibly alienate half ur audience when trying to make a point. Just an observation…

Not my point. Think of the protest songs written in the 60’s and 70’s. Musicians in their 20’s wrote most of them. Those same musicians now are writing songs. Where are the current young musicians? Why aren’t they stepping out? Musicians..not actual protesters.

I was just thinking the same thing on my way to work this morning. Where are the musicians? The ones who wrote protest songs long ago were kids. Where are the kids now that are musicians?

Was a JR in HS. Watched it on TV in class. I remember not really grasping what I saw & teachers crying. I remember the bell ringing & being sent to the next class, not home. Reagan’s speech that night (he didn’t write it) actually comforted me. This was GenX’s 1st Kennedy Moment.

Last real warm beach day was back in October…I’m ready for these days to return!

I plan on reposting some of my old writings related to music here in the near future in the hopes that some like minds come along for the ride… and maybe get inspired to write again as well.

When I wrote about Phil Lesh’s death & the song Box of Rain, it was a tribute to him but it was more about me letting go of things I carried as weights on my soul for yrs. Bob… he’s just too big to write about as number 2. The songs that he wrote resonate with me but not in the way Box of Rain does.
