This kind of thing is why I just flat out don’t DO ECCC anymore. I could walk to the con from my place, so I don’t have travel expenses, but starting five hundred bucks in the hole and staring down the barrel of four full days of selling is soul-crushing
LRP: I enjoy cons, and I like having a big one in my town, but man alive!!! Reedpop gouges creators who are already shelling out ludicrous amounts of money for wares and travel, and then gives them next to nothing in return. We’re a main draw for attendees, you corpo parasites!! Bug off!
I do not expect everyone who comes to my table to buy something. You don’t gotta tell the creators you have no money, they also have no money. You can just make eye contact, tell them you really like their work and subscribe to their newsletter. That goes a long long way!
