Every time I play I get so inspired to make an ‘Isaac for Dummies’ guide.
The game is so special but I wouldn’t have even known if I wasn’t explicitly shown.
Alas, I am going to be stuck on Afterbirth+ forever as I refuse to move on before I beat Greedier on The Lost (never going to happen 🥲)

You know when you have a game that feels like home?
I booted up The Binding of Isaac tonight and mannn. That game feels like home.
Hearing the menu music was a serious *exhale* moment.
Obviously the subject matter is horrific. But the game as a whole is as near perfect as a game can get for me.

20% in one week, so going to see if I can keep up that pace and be done by April 🤓

Also 20% into my Python programming course… my brain is EXERCISING right now 😅
Not a huge fan of the way it’s being taught, not gelling with my learning style at all, but glad to be finally trying this thing I’ve been curious about for a long time!

Loving the mystery of it all and the topics it keeps making me ponder.
So far each new area has presented new mechanics rather than ramping and ramping the difficulty. Love that.
The exploration is my least favourite thing about it but I am enjoying navigating the main paths at least.

Almost half way through Talos Principle 2. I’m so much more engaged with this one than I was the first.
Had to google my first hint 1 puzzle ago 😭 was so close to making it half way through with my own big brain 😂
I would have got it as well if I realised you can reset puzzles 💀

I’m at the stage of Talos Principle 2 where I feel like a puzzle solving god (the first couple of areas 😂).
Let’s see how long this lasts.
I think in the first game I managed to make it about half way through, but then suddenly every single puzzle needed a guide 💀

Finding it really fun using DnD as a creative writing exercise.
I’m writing a diary of the events that happen during our sessions from my characters pov, and it’s a fun way to write in a different style while also getting to know my character more, without having to think of a plot or story.

DM - I have made an improv game that we can use during long rests to help us with role playing and world building.
My brain immediately - Please can you send me the improv prompts so that I can prepare in advance….
Why am I like this 🤣🤣

It doesn’t really have the things that make Isaac special and so repayable.
Also the pacing isn’t working for me. Runs are starting to feel like a lifetime and I’m not even getting very far because one unlucky moment (not even in battles) can ruin the whole flow.
Back to the backlog!

Putting Mewgenics down for a bit.
It was fun at first when it was all new but it’s already started to get tedious.. might write up my thoughts sometime but it is definitely to everyone’s benefit not to compare it to Isaac the way I have been.

Fear will bind you, gripping to the present which must always pass.
Regret will bind you, longing for the past you cannot change.
Love will bind you, yearning for a future you will not see.
Unbound, may you depart in peace.

4. Spirit City: Lofi Sessions
This one is less of a game and more of an aid. I’m logging it now as I just got all achievements but I am going to get so much more use.
Having to do lists, journals and timers on top of my personally decorated room has been so useful, comforting and essential tbh.

The Sword
Sword of the Sea.
❕ New Blog Post ❕
Sword of the Sea was so stunning, there was no way that I was getting through that game without liberal use of Photo Mode.
Here is album 1 - The Sword 🗡️

3. Sword of the Sea [for fun]
What a stunning game. While I liked Journey and Abzu, they didn’t really hit in the way I hoped for me. Apparenlty written lore is what I needed!
The environment is so fluid as the land waves and the ocean hills. Exploration hits too, no biome overstaying its welcome.

Vibing so well with Sword of the Sea.
So many screenshots feel like spoilers, here are a couple of safe ones.
So far this is doing for me what Abzu and Journey never quite did, I think it’s the addition of written story/lore.
Water is my element and this has been enjoyable all around so far!

I think that’s a sign of great art, and I also why it makes for fantastic podcast exploration.
I have heard so many people bring their own stuff to it that made me appreciate it all so much more, and then still haven’t heard some of my own stuff explored at all.
So many layers. True onion game.

I played it once and watched it twice since, and every time I took away something new.
It wasn’t till my third time though that I found my sympathy for Iris.
It’s so crazy how many themes there are to explore, but also how where you are at in life alters your perspective of them.
Top game.

Me too! The first one felt like a puzzle book, doing a few ‘pages’ before bed each night, except the reason I was doing them was less about enjoyment and more about excitement to find the next terminal.

Deciding what to start next as my PS5 game.
I could go Sword of the Sea for chill pallet cleansing, Talos Principle 2 for ongoing puzzles, or Coral Island for a long comfort deep dive.
Or, I could just go absolutely wild and start Hollow Knight…
