Abortion was legalized in Portugal in 2007. Roe v. Wade was overturned in the US in 2022.

I wanted to start off Women's History Month by sharing some works by Paula Rego. In these works, Rego documents women going through dangerous terminations when abortion was illegal in Portugal. β¬οΈ

Whatever 2025 may bring, I find comfort in the certainties that there is good in the world, that I create and get to experience the work of others, and that I love and am loved.
Through this period, though, I felt so much support and love. I learned that loss is a universal experience. I came out of it knowing that, even after breaks, artmaking is an essential part of my being.Β β¬οΈ

This past year I lost many people. I lost my brother, my aunt, my cousin, my dog. I found it incredibly hard to create through all of the grief.Β β¬οΈ
