He wasnβt when I posited this. Also I donβt have Instagram
A hybridized player like Jalen Thompson who has Safety & Slot/Nickel capabilities is much more viable now for the Buffalo Bills. Especially when paired with Cole Bishop
Also maybe Taylor Rapp has a role?
So itβs telling that the Bills let Taron Johnson go. Heβs either not the kind of Nickel Leonhard wants, or Leonhard plans on using less nickel than we thought/has other priorities for additions at other positions
Jim Leonhard is going to use nickel packages/personnel. Likely not to the level of Sean McDermott (depending on the guys they can bring in this offseason), but still enough that having a good player at Nickel is important
Heβs made progress as a βtrueβ Safety in Buffalo, but with Taron Johnson now gone, flexing Bishop more into the nickel role makes a lot of sense for the Bills and helps them be able to reduce how much offenses can dictate to them via personnel or situation
Cole Bishop was at his best at Utah as a down Safety/monster man/apex/big nickel. The closer he plays to the line of scrimmage, the better & more comfortable he is and the more his skillset unlocks
Looks like Brandon Beane was talking about Taron Johnson here
With Taron Johnson now gone, Cole Bishop as the nickel in sub packages becomes a very viable & interesting idea schematically
Bishop can play Safety, especially as more of a down Safety under Jim Leonhard. His skillset becomes more unlocked the more he plays around the LOS in any role/fashion
Some small differences in the designation and processing per @spotrac.com
Actually itβs $7.78m in a pure designation
Ironically (or maybe not) if the Bills designated Curtis Samuel as a post June 1st cut, theyβd save $6.78m in 2026
DJ Moore (2) at the bottom of the screen running a dig.
Takes an inside release, stems vertical, breaks it off, and makes the catch outside of his frame

DJ Moore (2) at the top of the screen getting open.
Youβre not going to see him βroute upβ CBs because heβs not a technician. Here he wins by accelerating out of his break to create separation
βDJ Moore, the CB is playing you with outside leverage in man coverage in the low red zone. Run away from him and separate immediatelyβ
Yeah I preferred it in this draft. Even more so now
Feels like the odds of the Bills trading back in the first round to recoup another day 2 pick (round 2 or 3) have gone up significantly today. Thatβs where the sweet spot of value is in this draft class in general, and especially if the board doesnβt fall the right way for the Bills
I lied haha. Had an offline show scheduled but ended up going live haha
Instead of recording offline, Disguised Coverage is live right now with a tremendous guest

I donβt think heβs a bucket getter or even a true/ideal needle mover. And that coupled with the contract and 2nd round pick cost muddies the overall βvalueβ aside from just what he brings as a player
DJ Moore (2) going up and getting it in traffic
*also, UNREAL throw from Caleb Williams*
