Unused design for 10/- note in the 1930s. Back has St George & the Dragon. Front is Sir John Houblon, who ended up on the £50 note in the 1990s.
We nearly had St George & the Dragon on the back of the ten shilling note in the 1930s.

There was fuss back in the 1990s when the Florence Nightingale £10 was retired. In part because the original Series E of banknotes were to feature no women but also because she'd been on so long.
Cyril Fletcher started out appearing on pre-war TV in numerous revue comedies & finished up presenting gardening programmes for Central & Channel.
Yes, she owned 34.3%. Arthur L Price had 44.1%. MTM had intended to offer 22% in a public offering in 1987 but this was withdrawn following the stock market crash. The private sale was considered at the time to be at fair value but MTM had not produced a new hit for some time.
Double intrigue for the ones presented by Tony Hart.
In England they are mainly (but not entirely) within a niche albeit large in Southern & South Western areas as the inheritors of socially liberal former Tory voters. Trying to become more popular more widely bumps them up against others where they might once have been the only alternative.
Another example of the UHF coverage looking like a shrunken balloon of the VHF one. In practice the usable UHF area was somewhat greater, eg covering much of Reading. Plus the VHF area at the edges here would typically have required monster aerials (at least double 5s).
Possibly Stephen Fry interviewing Jess Thom although that was originally from over a decade ago. Link to her YouTube site with the clip (which is full with f-tics). youtu.be/vOwPaBDFDi4
Plus part 53 of The Salt Path exposé.
If sporting events are included I doubt Wimbledon tennis can be beaten.
Individual polling stations particularly in rural areas can have really small numbers voting in them. From counting experience this can be under 20. Not sure analysing those would be worthwhile.
By election campaigns are often brutally personal especially for candidates bringing baggage along with them making them an easy target. That's politics.
ATV & TWW were the only contractors to advocate commercial competition in their Pilkington evidence. For ATV there was the prospect of more outlets for their production side. For TWW it was more a matter of principle for Lord Derby it's chairman.
Carlsberg didn't cover itself with glory over its similar treatment of Tetley's as well.
There has already been a grace period of 10-14 months or so depending on the other nationality. The announcement in effect was the ending of this. Undoubtedly there ought to have been more signalling as the requirement was introduced.
Became an estate agent .
Ended up at an employment tribunal although I can't locate the substantive case.
Note that the UHF area for Anglia is somewhat less further west than VHF. The sometimes expressed idea that this encroached into former North / Yorkshire areas is thus incorrect. Belmont was not attached in 1966 to the Northern region unlike the BBC probably because it would make it too large.
And Peru has had decimal currency since 1863.
The ITA's chairmanship was a "retirement" job for Herbert Bowden in the gift of Harold Wilson. He'd turned down an offer to be BBC chairman & Charles Hill was moved sideways to achieve this. Sadly 1969 would be a poor year for ITV; extra costs from colour conversion & less ad income.
All the publicity has been around the ETA. Some targeted in the top countries where people most affected live would have been a big help but there would still be those who would only find out when planning a trip.
It has been "compulsory" since last year alongside the ETA but during the introductory phase there have been allowances made. This period had to come to an end sometime but the requirements should have been advertised more prominently for the last 12 months or more.
Britain historically has been unusually relaxed about dual citizens entering using their non-British passports unlike many other countries. There was a slight movement towards "recommending" using a British / Irish passport some years ago. 1/2

1982: Dr Linda Barrett and the other one, Carol Thingy, dust off their CVs.
I have a 1981 Hitachi 16 in portable. Display is as good now as it was then and has never needed to be worked on.
People used to compliment me on the range of food at the meetings I ran compared with others. It was a simple trick. If there were say 15 people invited who had no dietary requirements I would order 7 sets from one menu & 8 from another rather than 15 from just 1 which nearly everyone else did.
Actors in minor parts in that era & earlier in a long running series were under great pressure to have their residuals bought out. The top bananas though such as Dick Van Dyke could negotiate an ownership share in the whole production which could be really lucrative.
Mr Bobby cushion.
I would pass on this one.
Didn't stop it being a target for thieves in my school. Police were searching for people with flat ended fingers.
Probably although being closed-circuit it could theoretically have been a different line standard. ABC started its 405-line SECAM tests in 1961 but this was at Teddington rather than Aston.
