This is so great to see!
Our daughter was diagnosed at a well-child check up at age 12 after a 'routine' (all too rare in the US) urine dip test for glucose. We caught #T1D early and "being forewarned IS being forearmed!". Too many kids are diagnosed in ketoacidosis.

Even with all the advances, diabetes remains a 24/7 challenge for management. Hoping for continued advances. Would sure be nice if industry could remember Banting's selflessness.

Happy #WorldDiabetesDay! Celebrating Banting, Best, Mcleod, Collip and those that came before/after in pursuit of treatment and a cure. Reflecting on how far we've come just since #T1D came to us and on the selflessness of Banting for selling his patents for just $1.

Trans rights are human rights.

Fresh work incoming: Here we quantitatively compare the representational geometry of mouse CA1 and human spatial memory during environmental deformations. Briefest TLDR: Human memory looks like a change-resistant version of mouse CA1.

The reality that masked men without proper identification are confronting and arresting and taking away people should be intolerable to anyone who calls themselves American.

The Coming Out of a Transgender Scientist "I know that I am making the right decision because whenever I think about changing my gender role, I am flooded with feelings of relief."

We're disappointed to see Ben Barres's powerful book "The Autobiography of a Transgender Scientist" among the ~400 titles removed from the Naval Academy Library. Needless to say, we're proud to have published his book and will keep it — and his memory — alive.

If you think what happened to Rumeysa Ozturk can't happen to you because you're a citizen and she's not, you are sorely mistaken. Ozturk was snatched off the street not for being a national security threat but for having a wrong opinion. If we don't put a stop to this, it's coming for all of us.

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH
