Mummy said that to the person who gets in the cupboard first when called, she will give a penny. Last night we went in the cupboard more times, I think, than ever before. I should have 5d from Mummy now.
Dadβs shattered nerves and agitation are primarily due, I believe, to Uncle Rob, who has got 4 years for embezzling Β£4000 and caused Dad worry. He gets so anxious when we hear planes or gunfire and wonβt go into the cupboard when he calls.
It dropped quickly to earth leaving a long black trail of smoke behind it. Hermon Hill has been closed for some time now. I find that a bomb landed in the South View drive 30 yards from Crossβ House. It exploded under the road, and never even broke any windows. Air Raid Warning 6.30pm to 7am.
I looked to my left and saw that a barrage balloon, faint among the mist and cloud, had a strange reddish glow on it. I presumed that it was the lighting or the sun, or something illuminating it, but I had not really time to think before the flames and smoke belching from it.
Started pouring rain on Saturday night and has not stopped yet. Fog. Rain stopped momentarily at 10.15am, but not for good. Was coming home in a terrific thunder-storm from school when there was a terrific clap of thunder after a bright flash of lightning.
