Every time I hear a driver complain about No Turn On Red.... drivers ruined it for themselves with this extremely dangerous behavior. I have zero sympathy.

It angers me immensely when a driver stops half way in the cross walk. Extremely antisocial behavior.

Using the corpses of car-culture to show how far we've come? I'm here for it
Is that guy parked?! I honestly can't tell
This guy was an instant from gunning it on a red even looking at me. No I wasn't in the cross walk yet and yes he stopped, but this is the definition of a crosswalk creeper. Always make eye contact with these bozos but it's sad that you have to.
Great article Anna!
Here's a piece I wrote explaining my top request coming out of interviews I did for Mayor Wilson's transition -- a clear mayoral directive that ensures that every project that touches our city encourages reduces VMT. Read more π

Yes but driver's won't care without much better enforcement or just better infrastructure. We need exclusive pedestrian signals in all urban villages and raised crosswalks or better yet, Mexico-style topes.
thinking how much safer it would be for pedestrians and cyclists if pike and pine were fully pedestrianized from the market to capital hill.
Just stopped at the little memorial honoring the life of the Lilli. As I was crossing the street just now the pedestrian in front of me was nearly struck by a driver. Whatβs the plan here, SDOT?
Ugh so sorry to hear that. We need raised crosswalks or Mexican topes at all 4way stops.
I'm so sorry this happened to you. Just curious was this a case of you both having right of way (concurrent green lights) or something else?

I'm surprised how many corrals are placed on the sidewalk. It directly works against getting scooters off the sidewalk. Daylighting with them is such an obviously good idea
This is the bare minimum we need to be doing and it want to see our elected officials set our sights much higher.
Jeremy is 100% correct but also it is extremely sad that this is a 'bold' position.
Which redeeming quality?
We also need exclusive pedestrian phases, not concurrent ones. It is insane that we literally give the green light for cars to turn into pedestrians. End the madness
I couldn't have said it any better myself
Pine was pedestrian use by Westlake park 30 years ago! We know how to do this
Katie Wilson interrupts her State of the City address to note the fact that a 27-year-old was killed last night by a driver in Capitol Hill.
"We have to do better. We're not on track for our Vision Zero goals, and we have to make it safe for our vulnerable road users to get around the city."
These are not accidents.
Bizarre that a 27 year old woman was killed in the heart of the city last night and it isn't even above the fold on the Seattle Times website the following morning. The only story about it is a brief couple of paragraphs from last night. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
The ability to legally do just about whatever you want in your car including manslaughter, and have no consequences because 'it was an accident' is one of our societies greatest failings.
