Former IWW, lapsed a few years back, I should fix that 😅
this Irish tenor banjo is about 100 years old. I have reskinned it, replaced the tuning pegs, made a new string nut and bridge from ipe, and realigned the neck.
Now I need to learn how to play it.
my neighbors suffer through me learning to play banjo.
Even worse, I'm planning to build highland bagpipes from PVC pipe sometime this year. I promised them I'll practice in the park 5 blocks away.

It is hard to talk in the presence of most Americans about things that aren't in our direct orbit sometimes, I wish we were a little better at asking questions and listening than we are but those are not skills our culture values.
Rather than regime change, Iran becoming a failed state & potentially breaking into a civil war & multiple weaker states is a common discussion among Iranians of all political leanings in Iran & leftist Iranians in diaspora. Yet it doesn't get much air elsewhere, esp on English MSM, I find.

There was a general strike here last month. There’s genuine support for a change of regime here and all over Iran but you don’t get that with air strikes, all that brings is death.
I think my plan should be to pack the shelf stable components for a good party and have a bash with friends and neighbors to say goodbye to the things we loved about the world before, and enough rice and beans to feed those who are hungry until I run out. That and run schlock and B movie nights

I'd be tempted to see how long I could BS it to funnel the income to worthwhile groups, but I'd struggle to present with a straight face.

He was great, we sang cowboy songs together to calm me down after my first time merging on the highway. He was incredibly patient and soft spoken but had a keen eye. I was still traumatized by being a passenger when hit by an 18 wheeler a couple years before and he helped un-spook me from driving.
Like, you're glad they're working with you and maybe they've changed there mind about some things but you know outside of this one thing you probably can't rely/ trust/ hope for their collaboration and there may never really be understanding between you outside of the current fight.
This characterization really makes me think of when I've seen and heard from organizing in the south; from trying to deradicalize right-wing extremist youth to anti-prison action... sometimes the most effective ally is the republican or NIMBY that's closer to the problem and has different motives.
