my mom is the sort of person who really strongly believes that it is easy and likely to win a national contest in a country with 350 million people.

Rolling back NY's Climate Law will do nothing to reduce costs, because it isn't the cause of rising costs. The oil and gas status quo created the affordability crisis, and cheap, quickly-deployable renewables, storage, and efficiency will get us out of it. spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...
I'm a pessimistic person by nature. I've spent the years since 2020 building the skill of writing about policy with a hopeful, determined tone even when I'm denouncing something I think is very dangerous. It's felt a lot harder over the last year, and basically impossible since the start of 2026.
I've blocked all the guys with 30k+ followers who kept really getting under my skin posting "no one is writing about this" because they literally just do not read the work of women journalists and it has improved the bluesky experience greatly
From Casey Means' own book: "the ability to prevent and reverse" conditions like cancer and Alzheimer's "—and feel incredible today—is under your control and simpler than you think."
This week on The Optimizer, @vicmsong.bsky.social lays out how wellness influencers exploit public hopelessness.

Are you really sure these posts are the posts you want to weigh on your soul? Whoever you are, I believe you know it's wrong to still have headlines that say analysis "suggests" the "school was hit" after 5 days.
i've never spent a moment of my life thinking about carolyn bessette kennedy
I wrote about raising daughters in the ICE age WHILE in treatment for triple negative breast cancer. Scroll down to read the short piece.

Worse than the worst War on Terror drone strikes. By innocents killed, worse than multiple of the worst drone strike errors combined.
The last photo of third-grader Mikaeil Mirdoraghi, waving to his mom before he left for school. He was killed shortly after in the U.S./Israeli strike on a primary school in Minab.
My wife is conducting research for a workshop about those of you who like to thrift/shop for vintage clothing. She needs to get 100 people in her dataset, and I would appreciate it if you would take 5 minutes to fill our her survey! Pass it on to your friends who love vintage!

Mayor Zohran Mamdani is governing like a big-city liberal. His base seems undeterred, writes David Freedlander.
PSA: The only way to make universal childcare a permanent reality is to TAX THE RICH!
168 people reported killed. Mostly children. Their family members will never ever forgive us. I don't care that it was next to a military base - if you can't shoot straight, you shouldn't be shooting. If you're trying to call them "human shields," well, US military bases have schools too.
Thank you for helping me ratio Kathy Hochul. I look forward to OCFS following me on here to monitor when I am mean about her.
I recognize most people are not willing to come to the conclusion that what they see as Zohran's universal child care win is actually a small pilot program as part of Kathy Hochul's budget narrative control operation. Unfortunately, that's what is happening.
A lot of my job for the past decade has been political education, and part of that is helping people recognize that even when something sounds good, it can be used to hide worse intentions. It can be really hard to convince people that a good headline is a bad policy.
To expand on this, last year she went all over the state announcing her "inflation refund checks" as a guarantee from the very beginning of the budget session through its duration. This was done to impose austerity - that money could not be allocated to the many needs advocates were pressing for.
Pokopia has a whole 3D printer and it surprised me so much that I ended up reanalyzing how Pokémon treats technology in general. Gift link if you want to read :) www.theverge.com/games/890131...
