ICE’s courthouse raids in Chesterfield County and beyond do not make our communities safe. I sent a letter to DHS Secretary Noem and ICE Acting Director Lyons to demand answers.

Mahmoud Khalil finally had a chance to watch a video of artists and actors reading Mahmoud’s letter to his newborn son from ICE detention.

We’re overjoyed that Mahmoud is free to be with his family while his case proceeds. We'll keep fighting for everyone’s rights to free speech and due process.

Trying to do the whole half-decade Iraq War discourse in 72 hours.

Learned helplessness is a psychological state in which an individual, after repeated exposure to uncontrollable negative events, believes they are powerless to change their situation, even when opportunities to do so arise. This leads to passivity, decreased motivation, and a sense of hopelessness, which can persist even when circumstances change and control is possible. Learned helplessness is often associated with depression.

Some replies have made me think of learned helplessness- a consequence of being unable to change bad things that continue to happen.

Very worrisome and yet, a reality in today’s world.

Reality #1 We had a relaxing evening: eating delicious leftovers, brushing the dogs and walking them in the lush, green summer day. Reality #2 Read and watched the news: people suffering because of wars, a difficult economy and policies stripping them of supports.

Anyone else having trouble managing multiple and conflicting realities?

I really wonder if humans were built for bouncing between sublime calm and extreme anxiety.

Americans be like:

"Oh, you don't want to actually LIVE downtown"

[only neighborhood in your godforsaken city that resembles a human settlement]

"with all the *hustle* and

[god, don't say it]

*bustle*!"

[minimum signs of human life]

"Besides, there's no parking!"
