My first attempt at painting the comic went south... probably because I chose to start with a challenging nighttime scene.
Reworked my color mixing, ready to try again. It's process π
We had a great turnout of roughly 20 students! Great to see so many of our students keen on Glaciology πͺβοΈ

I don't see how this is anything less than a gross attempt to breach freedom of speech and right to privacy in the US. As an American citizen, I feel fear - not freedom.

Wrote a little story about our paper: doi.org/10.1002/ecog...
Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, a day to remember all those who were murdered during the Holocaust, under wider Nazi persecution and through all other genocides. Our thoughts are with the members of these communities.
Even when stuck in a lift, PhD students have lunch together β€οΈ
We're in the lift, they're sat in the hallway. Solidarity all the way.
βThat leaves Republicans in Congress as the last barrier. They owe it to the American people, and to the world, to stop Trump from acting out his fantasy in Greenland and doing permanent damage to American interests.β

A photo of Marguerite Perey, seated and looking directly at the camera. Her right hand rests on her lap and her left hand is in her pocket. She is wearing a long white lab coat that is tied at the waist.
Physicist Marguerite Perey discovered Francium #OTD in 1939. It was the last element to be found in a naturally occurring state, rather than synthesized by humans. π§ͺ βοΈ π©βπ¬

The IPCC will, of course, hum along without U.S. participation, but folks will be hoping for their swift return.
Until then, give hugs to your climate-conscious U.S. friends, and encourage them to keep fighting for a livable future.
Itβs always darkest before dawn.

Finally, here it is. Also this year, I have together with @ruthmottram.bsky.social commented on the fate of the Greenland Ice Sheet. Thanks for your patience, @carbonbrief.org. One of the highlights: 2024/25 was the 29th year in a row with net mass loss. See www.carbonbrief.org/guest-post-h...
