Don't forget to apply to our position in Evolutionary Genetics at U of South Carolina!
In my experience it is a fantastic place to start a new lab, with friendly and supportive colleagues and many junior faculty in EEB!
Review starts in 1 week (Oct 1)!
Finally got a chance to read it! (Selected by @aidanwshort.bsky.social for lab meeting this week!) Such an interesting synthesis and framework for understanding selection on flowers! I love this paper!
I'm hiring a postdoc to work in theoretical / computational phylogenomics! More info at tinyurl.com/63hb5ew8. Please share!
Big news! We are recruiting a postdoc to work on tomatillo evolution: jobs.colorado.edu/jobs/JobDeta.... The clade containing tomatillos and its allies (ca 300 spp) has evolved lantern fruits at least 25 times - we want to know why! Join us @rociodeanna.bsky.social & @caschenck-bio.bsky.social
Please repost and amplify !

Yay Katie!!!
Congratulations Brian!!
πΈ Today's Graduate Student Excellence Award highlight is Aidan Short, NSF Postdoctoral Fellow @sc.edu
Aidan studies how divergent pollinator adaptation contributes to genome divergence and speciation.

Thank you!
Hi David!! Thanks so much for the message! This is all very helpful. Do you happen to know anyone MSU or UT (Or NCSU) that might be willing to share details? Thanks!
Hey, thanks so much for the response! My poorly worded post was meant to convey that we're looking for plans on building the greenhouse itself ... (as an aside, Amanda's arabidopsis work is simply awesome !!)
Hi Alex! Thanks for the response! This looks similar to what we are hoping to achieve! Do you suppose there is anyone at U Wyoming that we might be able to contact regarding details? Thanks!
Does anyone in my network know of a recent rooftop research greenhouse project? We're looking for info, advice, schematics, plans, anything would be helpful! Thanks!!!
Love making maps
Here are some samples from Penstemon newberryi x davidsonii hybrid zone at Virginia Lakes trail in the Sierras
Color = flower color!
My favorite answer to a final exam question: What is one thing you learned in this semester* that you found interesting or surprising?
(*required Ecology and Evolution course for Bio majors)
"That I actually liked this course."
lol
Check out the advance version of @trinitydepatie.bsky.social's first(!) paper on her VERY GROOVY personate penstemons!!!
Our hero lorna
Our publication on the genomics of the firecracker penstemon is out. This was the result of a two-semester graduate class that I co-taught with David Jarvis. We wanted to sequence something meaningful to the western US, so we chose a penstemon species. doi.org/10.1093/jher...
Clippy has sinister brows. Not sure you can trust. Iβd say no to the βhelpβ!
Yes!!
The Wessinger lab at University of South Carolina is recruiting a postdoc and a phd student. We work on genetics of adaptation and speciation in penstemons. To learn more, contact wessinc@mailbox.sc.edu
Join us!! I'm recruiting a postdoc and grad student to work with us on parallel trait evolution, quant and pop gen, and speciation in penstemons. Find out more about our research interests here: wessingerlab.github.io . Informal inquiries welcome!

The Wessinger Lab at University of South Carolina is recruiting a PhD student for Fall 2025. We work on genetics of adaptation and speciation. see our website at wessingerlab.github.io. To learn more, send a CV and informal research statement to wessinc@mailbox.sc.edu
Join us!! I'm recruiting a grad student (Fall 2025) to work on parallel trait evolution, pop gen, quant gen, and/or speciation with us at beautiful U. of South Carolina! #evosky

Hey #Botany2024 stop by my talk tomorrow morning to FINALLY hear about what @carriewessi.bsky.social and I have learned about the genetic architecture of Penstemonβs personate flowers!! Tuesday - 8:30am- Development & Structure - Grand Gallery B
You were so close to us! If you come back, let me know and weβll host you for a seminar!
