Finished Cairn last night. What a game - and what a great ending. Wow.
Congratulations to Jessie Buckley on her Golden Globe win last night for her role in Hamnet! Jessie slayed as Kate in The Devil in Me in 2022, and has been killing it ever since! We're sure a restful hotel stay will be well needed after that win ๐

18 hours left to Draw Steel and Crack the Sun! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...
High point of my holidays so far has been playing through Split Fiction with my daughter. The variety is off the charts, just a perfect love letter to gaming.
Anyhow, Iโm off to watch the BBC Ghost Story for Christmas. Always a treat. Night night!
Best horror movie was Weapons, without a doubt.
Best RPG I picked up was Through the Hedgerow. Delightful to read, canโt wait to play.
I read loads of books this year but the one I enjoyed most was King Sorrow by Joe Hill. Absolutely bonkers and just so much fun.
Best game that came out this year for me was probably Expedition 33, but the one I played and enjoyed by far the most was older: Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries (full DLC campaign). Literally hundreds of hours spent blowing up heavy metal.
Merry Christmas all! Itโs been an interesting year for me - worked really hard on Directive 8020 for Supermassive (due out next year), jumped back in the saddle on a bunch of D&D projects (most also coming next year), read a load of books, played some great games. Hereโs a quick roundup.
Through the Hedgerow by Jonathan Rowe was a delight. The short story excerpts running through the book are wonderful.
The game is in good hands! Fantastic news and so well deserved. Congratulations!
I love 4E - it's the edition I cut my teeth on as a writer for D&D. So no surprise, I also love DRAW STEEL, which feels like a spiritual successor to 4E, except with an adamantine skeleton hammered out in a heavy metal forge. So I'm VERY happy to be a part of this: www.backerkit.com/c/projects/m...
My long-running work Tomb of Annihilation campaign finally suffered its first character death tonight. Belchorzh the Unseen claims another victim.
I am Dragonmeeting this afternoon!
A day of ghoulish fun with the Arkham Horror card game followed by orchestral horror movie soundtracks performed by candlelightโฆ
After few weeks of blitzing short things - novellas, short games, comics - I am now diving into this monster. Itโs so big I feel faintly ridiculous getting it out of my bag on the bus.

I love the brevity of description in the new D&D starter set. Locations and NPCs are pared down to the bare minimum, without turning things into an ugly list of bullet points. I think we could all learn a lesson from this!
Weโre down to the last day! Get your pledges in now, me hearties!
I'm going to be trying out the Draw Steel RPG next month with my old 4E group. They never really clicked with 5E, so I'm hoping this game will be more up their street.
First contact at Gamescom: unsettling...unforgettable.

Three titles that I contributed to are available in this Humble RPG Bundle: Durnan's Guild to Tavernkeeping, Lost City of Mezro, and Xanathar's Lost Notes to Everything Else!

5. The writing team is a heavyweight lineup of RPG champions: youโll be in the trusted hands of Andy Collins, Erin Roberts, and James Haeck, with me waving them on from the shipโs helm and Shawn Merwin and Joe Raso manning the deck guns. Itโs going to be EPIC.
4. Itโs classic โHigh Adventureโ. Youโll cross cutlasses on the decks of sinking ships, explore ruined tombs, get sucked down whirlpools, battle more than one moustache-twirling villain, hunt enormous sea monsters, pose as undead, plan an infernal prison break, and even steal a moon from the sky.
This system of exploration is something Iโve been plotting for a long time, and Iโm really happy with where weโve got to with it! Itโs essentially mixing very light board game elements into your RPG campaign, while keeping your own stories at its heart.
