Adam Friedland telling Gavin Newsom that "you look like your dad is CEO of the money company" is the hardest guffaw I've enjoyed at anything so far this year. This really is the best internet show since Norm Live, and Adam is a generational talent in the world of funnymen.

Since seeing The Skydiggers a month or two back, they keep worming their way into my feeds. This performance by the band's earliest incarnation, just Andy and Josh, is a pure delight. Earnest, melodic, and basically a perfect song. Note that it's a tune a nerd like Andy would be expected to sing.
Hachi machi! I wasn't really in a concert-y mood, but even still, that was the best I've ever seen the 400 Unit play. Jason was in incredible fettle, and the set was fantastic. Half of Foxes in the Snow with the band, "Outfit," "Danko/Manuel," and "Dress Blues." Top shelf.

The more of these songs I hear reimagined as full-band numbers, the more I wish he'd have let this record simmer for another year before getting the 400 Unit back into the studio to record it. Here's hoping tomorrow's set is Foxes heavy.
Trying my best to blot out the chaotic world and focus on work while I look forward to seeing Jason Isbell for the 7th time (third in my neighbourhood) tomorrow. Once I start getting some cash into the coffers again, the first thing I'll do is make sure I never go more than a week without a concert.

Solid fucking gig. He played this, my favourite song of his, so I was a happy camper. He was joined by a small combo, which I wasn't expecting, which made me even happier.
It's nice having local hookups, but even nicer being a town that's rapidly becoming a must-play for acts of all shapes and sizes. Off to see this Canadian legend thanks to the fine folks at the OLG Stage (recently voted one of the 10 best venues worldwide its size by Billboard, and deservedly so).
