Anways the person who called intensification akin to 'gang rape' is saying the debate at Council is too polarised.
I WONDER WHY ITS SO POLARISED
www.stuff.co.nz/national/126...
I do not understand why people have spent longer than I've been alive advocating against building more housing and intensification
And the amount of lying and scaremongering they do is absolutely wild.
So the government has spent well over a billion dollars on planning and land acquisition for fantasy RONS we can never afford, but there's no money to properly secure SH2 through Waioweka Gorge, which is regularly closed by washouts. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...
It's incredibly frustrating. And dishonest. And antidemocratic. And I could go on.
Mike Lee out here still lying about what planning capacity means, and implying Auckland Council is corrupt for developers lol
Imagine being so against intensification so people can have homes, this is what you constantly resort to.
While you may have heard Cr Fletcher blaming City Vision's Richard Northey for the postal voting system, there was a vote last term where we decided NOT to change from postal voting to booth voting. As the sole City Vision councillor I voted FOR booth voting, and Cr Fletcher voted AGAINST boothsπ€·ββοΈ
I love listening to Auckland Transport, ignore the evidence, ignore strategy and vision documents, and overwhelming support to remove cars from Queen Street, and prioritise public transport, walking, and cycling in the City Centre, to instead listen to the likes of Viv Beck.
Well, well, well, such a shame Mike Lee fucked up the location of the Parnell train station so it looks like there will be plenty of intensification for these NIMBYs in Parnell, just as they are asking for ;)
Pretty sure, would need to find the document again. I also think it might actually exclude fares so it's running it for free?
Labour councillors told us climate change demands urgent action. Now that bike lanes are at risk, we must remind them of that promise.

Interested in how to get public transport that works, even in traffic-heavy suburban cities?
My book lays out the ins and outs of transit planning, with theory and practice grounded in years of experience on what works.

I have made an error in calculating how long you could fund Te Huia for the price of one road.
The operating cost is actually $5.82m per year.
So you could fund it for 3780 years for $22,000,000,000, not 150 years

The world is a big and scary place, but this fluffy baby albatross is practicing flapping its wings on a sunny Dunedin afternoon.
Some thoughts of mine about the governments backdown of housing targets for PC120 and Auckland's planning rules, in the Sunday Star Times/The Post on behalf of @greaterauckland.bsky.social

Other nice adjectives for this approach, if say any opposition parties were looking to fortify their appeal at the moment: sensible, prudent, thrifty, versatile, creative, self-sufficient, adaptable, organised, strategic, ready, provident, collaborative, cooperative, united, and dare I say, popular.
Ok, hear me out here. A govt enabled acceleration to renewables, effective alternatives to always driving, + EVs, is essentially the lowest cost, most resilient, independence supporting, job creating, and actually βconservativeβ option ahead.
Auckland how good! ππ

Weβre in a climate crisis, a 40 percent cut to our climate response budget makes no sense financially or for the future of the city. Next weekβs proposals include a total gutting of cycleway funding, & a backdown on commercial rates for Air B&B providers www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3609...
Just FYI, every Labour council candidate in Wellington told me: βThe climate crisis demands urgent action and should be at the centre of all our council decisions.β
Can't wait to get stuck behind cars on Queen Street in the City Link bus more!
I love it when a transport agency operates completely opposite to the official vision and strategies which states the ideal outcomes IS TO GET RID OF CARS OFF QUEEN STREET.
WHICH THE PUBLIC SUPPORTS
It's funnier because the next slide is this, and I'm guessing they are going to advocate for more cars.
LOOK AT THE PICTURE DO YOU SEE ANY CARS
My favourite slide from the Heart of the City presentation to the WaitematΔ Local Board workshop next week.
I WONDER WHY PERCEPTIONS OF THE CITY CENTRE NEED TO BE IMPROVED?????
When the margins are 7 votes in some races, this probably could have swung election results
This Council report is in response to a review or something, so I think they are basically saying please amend out this requirement (I think?)
