I’m going to open a bar and the only thing ever on TV will be very old episodes of "The Price is Right" on mute. It's gonna be awesome.

Man, I would give both my left and right pinky toe for this booth to be an actual stop somewhere along the Bourbon Trail.
.
Come to Kentucky and set up shop, Nick Offerman!
Stopped in at Neat Bar recently to try something new...er...old and different.
This 1991 bottle of "The Yellow Rose of Texas" from the old Heaven Hill distillery offered a solid (and very affordable!) pour.
Always love tasting my way through a bit of whiskey history at Neat...
They are on to a great idea here. Now we just need a Foam Finger with a Glencairn holder for fine Kentucky Bourbon. Make every sporting event 187% better.
Nine-year old son last night - "Hey, did you know that frogs can jump higher than the Eiffel Tower?!"
Me: “Um. That is not true.”
Son: “Because the Eiffel Tower can''t jump."
(Shoots finger guns at me)
Me. "Ah."
I mean, are the bottles all going for a swim in that pool?
What in the holy hollyhock is even this photo. This is how my children display their stuffed animals.
The leaning boxes are a nice touch, I guess?
Along with other gear, decide to sell the top-notch pens I use for my whiskey tastings on my site. Damn hard to make a pen look and sound interesting.
Did an entire dramatic photo shoot and write up but, you know, still just a pens. (AWESOME pens mind you-> www.philtalkswhiskey.com/store/p/pen)
One question I get often is "Exactly how many distilleries are there in Kentucky?" Well, a lot.
According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, Kentucky now has more licensed distilleries than ever before: 125 locations owned & operated by 104 companies in 45 of the state’s 120 counties!
The rules are the rules!
Imagine a magical spot you can have a two ounce pour of annnny whiskey in the world at zero charge…BUT the bartenders tells you that it must be served to you over ice in one of these four somewhat ridiculous ways.
Which do you choose?!
These are the best whiskey themed socks I’ve seen in a while -> Hilarious “When Does Your Shipment Come In Bourbon Socks” lets people know what you’re really all about. 🫡 🥃
(Currently ten bucks for the pair at barreldownsouth.com/products/whe...)
What is an industry to do when a "Bourbon Boom" transforms into "Challenging Headwinds"? Adapt, of course! (And scale back some ambitious planned capital projects..)
Wonderful deep drive read from @DistilleryTrail on state of bourbon as we sail into 2026 -> www.distillerytrail.com/blog/kentuck...
Don't let your Friday night go a-rye. 🌾🥃
Join us Feb 20th for a blind rye whiskey tasting adventure! We've got four pours, Froggy’s Popcorn and zero judgment on your guesses.

I don't know much about the "Roebling Rare" bourbon expression sold by Covington's Smoke Justis bar/restaurant but THAT is one damn cool looking bottle and label.
Cheers to Cincy and the original longest suspension bridge in the world!
I'm guessing the line up (at least the headliners) for Bourbon & Beyond 2026 will be announced just about any day now. Any last minute guesses on who we might expect to see in Louisville this September?!
Listen, I’m not saying I’m lonely. I’m saying I’m thirsty.
After all, My love language is "Barrel Proof"
Buffalo Trace Distillery continuing to host interesting events. Here's latest. And there is Ice Carving!

Did you know that the versions of Chip and Dale featured in 1990's show "Rescue Rangers" were modeled after Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I.?
Yup. I know all sorts of fun and very useless stuff.
Sip it, don’t flip it. 🥃
Having a "just showing up is a win" type of morning. But woke up with the right number of fingers & toes so everything is already in my favor. So, gonna find a way to rock it.

At times, it feels like Twitter has devolved into an endless pile of flaming garbage BUT there are some bright spots like the wonderful Merriam Webster account. Hooray Dictionaries and etymology of words!
Let's give a little Ode to the Oak tonight:
I want to know what pour made you fall in love with bourbon in the very beginning?
(Cheers to Drams of Desire 😍🥃)
I've been working this afternoon on planning a Blind Rye Whiskey Tasting event for February and I can't stop coming up with incredibly dumb rye-themed puns for the promotion and social media posts.
Each one more lame to the last and I love it. These are gold, Jerry!
Your Friday night needs some vintage spirits in the photo feed — Check out this crazy old bottle of Four Roses “Straight Whiskies” from many decades ago.
Was cool to enjoy a pour of this one (thanks again, Jeb!) Tasted it next to bottle of today’s Small Batch. Night and day…
Check out this nice, thorough rundown of Downtown Louisville's Bourbon Scene from @LouGirl502. An excellent read AND a handy guide for planning your next set of whiskey adventures:

This is not a drill. 🚨 Attention everyone! 🚨
Louisville is getting @ShakeShack!
Okay, you may not care, but I think this is damn exciting stuff.
I find that there’s something incredibly comforting about knowing a barrel sat quietly for years before the contents ending up in your glass.

My daughter is often creating colorful, little art and placing them randomly around the house on tables, bookshelves, etc. In small ways, I cherish each one of those little creations. Parenthood is continually fun.
All I need on a late night during the holidays after everyone else has gone to bed…
