I'm no expert, but i finally got the time and energy to throw a decent streaming setup together.
Gonna have to make the place (and me) pretty now.

@jparish.bsky.social has been covering TurboGrafx in his series lately, and in context, their place in console history can seriously be summed up in this meme format.
I got lucky. π I'm actually going to be paring down soon, because I have worthy trade-in fodder to afford a JP8K/8080, which has been on my bucket list for years. MC505+JP8K= Timeless Electronica.
My gear acquisition tends to follow this:
"Was it on Bad Gear?"
and/or
"Did Skinny Puppy use it?"
Early Birthday present/rare pawn shop find: I now have Vintage FM, a pretty Thicc Manual that breaks down programming fairly well, and disk drive go brrrrπ
Because it was NEVER actually how one would actually survive a cataclysm. (food, shelter, safety, communication) It's always an edgy, violent daydream where they get to be The Heroβ’ in a lawless world, because they watched some movies.
Remember 15/20 yrs ago when everybody (mainly white male teens) had a "Zombie Plan"?
I think back to those quite a lot. At first I used to laugh because yeah, ridiculous. But as time passes by, I think a little deeper, and am increasingly disturbed by the concept.
Karaoke Night challenge:
1.) Sing the "Weird Al" version of the song.
2.) Get up there and "Shatner" your favourite song.
"Hi. My Name is Lexxi and Its been 3 weeks since my last Video Essay."
(Hi, Lexxi!)
"I guess it all started with 'How it's Made'. Kids stuff, right? I wanted more... Tom Scott, Defunctland, then, I got into summa that hardcore HBomberguy..."
Then you're the equivalent of the drummer who's in 4 different bands because no one can find a drummer. π
"We should do a D&D game" is the new "We Should Start a Band"...
My outdoor setup. Just through testing I'm already enjoying how the MC-505 communicates with other gear out of the box. Exactly the easement I wanted.
Male Colleague: "This reminds me of a thing Critical Drinker said..."
Me:
Aren't we also required by law to shoehorn Portopia Renzoku Satsujin Jiken in every third or so conversation?
Found one of those songs that should have been in my collection forever ago.
[Alternative/Indie Rock, 1984]
I only had literally a semester worth of credit to make up, and worked diligently all that year.
Still, adults would tell 18yo me that I had no future and should quit, but in the same breath, tell a 17yo next to me that their future is bright.
One. Years. Difference.
Yearly reminder to also congratulate "late" HS grads a.k.a "The 5 year program", or "Super Seniors".
I'm one myself (2007).
They are not "dumb", "lazy" or "hopeless", and deserve just as much love and support.

It is becoming unbelievably difficult to stay both informed and sane
Lately, I've been referring to the Atari Shock/"'83 Crash" historical narrative as "Let's Fast Forward To Nintendo."
It ignores not only Home Computers' role in that history but also Europe and the rest of the world at large.

"Is MySpace still around lol?"
People didn't leave MySpace because of Trolls, Bots, pay-to-play algorithms, and sociopolitical unrest.
We left after posting a long, vague, passive-aggressive rant about being "done with all the drama" because we saw Becky bump us down to #4 on her Top 8.
Came in faster than I expected. I've got a lengthy manual to read, now. There's lots of really cool stuff on it.
My setup is complete. (For now π)
In approximately under a month, I'll be the owner of a Roland MC-505. (Coming in from Japan.)
I only have two hands, and my live playing is getting ambitious. After months of looking, I think i found something to my tastes. If anyone used one, let me know how you got on with it!
The newsboy cap stays on. π
Mild take: VHS actually looked good back in the day If you took care of it.
The VHS "A E S T H E T I C" exists because people didn't clean their VCRs, Wore out their tapes, or recorded on SLP (crap quality) to cram 6 hours of video on a tape.
The "Retro" video look kinda bugs me ngl. I Must fix!
A little cardboard and masking tape is all i needed to make this more comfortable. (Also got a Juno Chorus pedal I've been messing with.
Whaaaaaaa?
Omg yes.
2004: Used keyboard, $75 just get it tf out of my house.
2025: Synthesizer VINTAGE ***RARE*** Collectors Piece $1500 (Cancelled and re-listed 4 times)
Coming to the end of my TP complete run-through. Return is imo, the most original approach to a Legacy Sequel.
I forgot about this track and it hits so hard.

Have you ever listened to the 1983 compilation record "The Elephant Table Album"?
If you have, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. It's got some early/forgotten avant-industrial tracks from pioneers such Coil and Legendary Pink Dots.
