I believe people are referring to a very different type and scale of AI. Furthermore, the energy usage -- and more broadly the impact -- of training -- especially for larger models -- is substantially greater than querying.

I realize this now, yes. Since the EU is taking a stand on trans-rights -- however much in passing -- it would be nice to see something more extensive.

I will say it's a testament to the way LGBTQIA+ is discussed in the United States that this was treated primarily as a statement on trans rights.

Hopefully this could be the catalyst for more LGBTQIA+ legislation in the EU.

I've read the original proposal (pace.coe.int/en/files/339...), and it clearly states this was about LGBTQIA+ women, hence the lack of focus on trans men. Oops!

I fear we're not acknowledging the core issue here.

Trans men still are men. They're still affected by anti-trans laws, even if they're less present in anti-trans propaganda.

Their erasure sets a dangerous precedent, and I fear this reflects poorly on the intentions of the EU.
