Canadian baseball fans absolutely crushing canned beers at the Canada-Cuba WBC game
Hell yeah
I will never understand the NFLs obsession with trying to appease MAGA and Trump. They're not sports fans! At all! The only time they talk about sports is to boycott something. They don't watch your product, they don't buy your merch. Rog! THEY DON'T BUY YOUR MERCH.
Idk if this would be a logistics/security nightmare....
Could you make the bonus game 100% GA? Would disincentivize resale. Could enforce TRE rules.
beyond being mean or a bad fan....it's just a straight up illogical viewpoint. Nothing makes me more mad than people acting illogically.
ANTI RACIST who has a Nazi tattoo and says black people don't tip
WORKING CLASS who went to Hotchkiss and poured drinks for DC elites
I'm not consistently a SOB, I only go to like 3-5 game per year, I've never been to a tailgate. I don't know anyone outside of the internet.
It just sucks than when your complaint is "not enough people care" that they go after the select group of people that obviously do care and are trying.
If they're pitching the STH package as # of regular season games + # of bonus games, then I 100% agree with you.
Maybe I count it as a "half game" in my internal budgeting, because maybe it's a friendly against like a Scottish PL team, or Harrisburg City Islanders.
Only thing I can think of is:
1. Incentivize them to "give back tickets" to a more controlled resale market. Do they still do a "points" thing for STH?
2. Punish them for reselling tickets. I know some teams (idk if MLS) will ban fans from STH if they transfer too many.
Fitting that they sent the Temu version of a cease and desist
I'm not a STH. If I was, I would be using the FB group to get rid of tickets that I couldn't dump on my own. I care about getting fans in the door. I'm the same way with CBB tickets
TRE tickets are the cheapest in the stadium. It's not crazy to want the people there to perform for me! Dance puppets, dance
The #1 issue with the SOB imo is that there's not enough of them. Personally I think 90% of the issues people have with the supporters can be traced back to that.
It's not something a new board member, a megaphone guy, the FO, the KSU, a base drum, or a trumpet can solve. Not quickly at least
I go back and forth on the profit thing lol. I currently have 2 of our 4 WC tickets listed at a price that means I see the WC for free.
But doing it in what is supposed to be a "community section" and for a game with known heavy away fan presences. Nah, that's immoral to me lol.
Yeah the SOB are in a tough place. People blaming them just don't understand the situation. You can't ban non-SOB from TRE because you'll never fill it.
If you have a half empty TRE you won't have good atmosphere. If you have a stub hub TRE you won't have a good atmosphere.
Imagine a world where Americans were smarter and didnโt applaud when reactionary idiot Ronald Reagan made a show out of removing the solar panels Jimmy Carter had installed on the White House. We wouldnโt now have to worry about affording to fill gas tanks next month.
I understand that other than maybe on seatgeek, you probably can't "ban" resale of TRE tickets on stub hub, vivid, etc.
But coming up with a way to incentivize using your own internal would be great.
Personally I think the SoB should try to build out some infrastructure for TRE ticket sales. At clunkiest, like the existing FB resale group. Best scenario something that actually looks like a true secondary market + account verification.
if he's going to do 19th-century president stuff like "fighting with Spain" why can't he do 19th-century president stuff like "overindulging on cherries and milk"
I think safe stand/GA would also deter stub hubbers.
I feel like a family of 4 coming in with their kids more likely pick tickets where they know their seat number and are assured they are definitely all in the same row no matter what.
That's why I say the biggest problem with the SOB is the membership base. 2x or 3x and you solve most problems.
You can't ban non-SOB from TRE because you'll never fill it.
If you have a half empty TRE you won't have good atmosphere. If you have a stub hub TRE you won't have a good atmosphere.
This is a philosophical issue, not an actionable item, one the FO has been chasing. But they need to find a way to get more diverse. Somehow, someway, they need to capture that mythical Latin American convert fan. Those CA fans there last night didn't come from CDMX...they came from the Del Val
I'm not sure if they are still working with Philly Sports Trips, but their prices were insane for away days.
I also think they should work on a SoB verified resale platform. A few dudes (I think one was KSU) managed to put together a good FB group. SOB should definitely be doing something like that
Chants are the least of the worry IMO. They could sing Mr. Brightside and Bohemian Rhapsody on repeat for 90' and it would be an improvement. Bass Drum/more drums would help. Bring back the trumpet/brass
Safe standing, GA, and a roof are the structural/institutional changes I'd love.
How much do we think they flipped these for? It's nothing compared to Messi $ I'm sure. I wouldn't be surprised if it was basically face value
If they don't flip them, it's probably just empty and the CA fans buy some from the box office? At that point we're just debating over where their seats are
yeah, I'm not a STH. I go back and forth.
It's not my money. I'm not gonna pocket watch anyone trying to recoup any value for the game(s) they can't get to anyway. If the club was in a position where the tickets actually had value to our fans & you could resell thru the FB group I'd be mad at them.
But with the current set up you're really recruiting people to come. As someone who has been trying to get people to join my choir for 8 years, I get how difficult recruiting adults to join a club is lol
Oh without a doubt. The location and parking situation really limits your clientele base and makes coming to a game more of an all day event than a casual night activity.
You get more fans coming to 5+ games a season instead of 1-2, which leads to more involvement and continuity.
End of the day the SoBs are just lacking the numbers. Plan and simple. A membership base 2x or 3x would cure a lot of what ails them. Idk what else they're supposed to do to get the numbers up.
We've got an ok sized fan base. But we just don't have the rabid support you see at say an Eagles game.
