Day 9 of #the100DayProject - today was all about perseverance. The number of times I wanted to scrunch this up and throw it away? So many. But I finished.

This one is all colored pencils, which is probably why it was so frustrating.

Also RIP to that one blue pencil. 😂

Day 8 of #The100DayProject is actually from yesterday - had to let it totally dry before removing the tape.

It's from a Let's make Art tutorial - I want to practice trees and also darker watercolors.

I went back in with colored pencils, natch.

Lulu would absolutely fall for this. Jimmy? Nope. He is by far the absolute worst of any of our dogs at taking pills, including dear Sophie who once delicately lined up five pills that we attempted to hide in her food next to her empty bowl.

Your explanation to him was really the best, but my initial thought: why was he trying to load a blob?

Also did he try to unplug it and then plug it back in, because that's the tech answer to life, the universe, and everything.

I was totally picking up what you were laying down! The creative process is so fascinating - it started as simple washes that I was thinking of as a beach and waves, then it morphed into this!

At no point during the creation of this watercolor, ink pen, colored pencil, pencil drawing did I have any idea what was happening.

Which resonates, actually.

This is based on a tutorial I followed last year, but I decided to - pun intended - wing it.

Next time I'd vary the colors more, but overall a fun mental break. ❤️
