I realize I probably haven't made this clear enough, but I am an MST3K stan to the point where it's pathological. I even asked Joel Hodgson if he was hiring writers at an MST3k event.

I did, however, read a lot of his work as a kid when I thought (and still do!) that writing comedy sounds pretty neat, and my gut reaction was always “this is *absolutely* that one uncle who thinks a $10 savings bond is an appropriate Christmas present.”

Before you ask, I tried doing research to validate this feeling a while back, but in my mental state as of 2021 or so, exposure to certain types of defeatism causes my brain to break the glass for the fire extinguisher with a bare fist, and Mr. Barry *really* likes writing about current events.

I really wish I had a coherent reason for why I hate the shit out of famed columnist Dave Barry, but I don’t other than “his tone gives me the impression of someone who would quietly cut my brake lines because I don’t agree with him about appropriate wine pairings.”
