A couple I met through work offered their guest room to me to stay in as a stop on a road trip. A year or so later, I saw them on a magazine cover and found out they had just killed a woman in the room I stayed in.

I don't actually think he's a bigot. I think he (like many white people) grew up not having to think about race and it shows. All I ask is that he not be friendly to racists and that he let go of being defensive when he does something ignorant.
Look, I adore you. I have used your support for Platner when talking to my Jewish family about voting for him if he wins the primary. I just think we can all acknowledge that he has some major blindspots and he is being too defensive rather than just listening to Jewish and Black people.

For him to fully denounce the podcast host whose show he went on. To acknowledge that he shouldn't call himself a fan of someone with views that abhorrent. To not expect everyone else to trust him on race if he has this many blindspots. Claiming ignorance is one thing, but doesn't address the harm

As a progressive Jewish voter in Maine, it really sucks that Platner is going to be the candidate. It's not just the tattoo, it's the way he talked about it. If you accidentally say a slur you didn't know...you'd apologize to the people that heard it and not be a defiant dick about it.
