Trump announces pause in β€˜reciprocal’ tariffs for all countries but China Stock markets soared. Tumult in bond markets had raised fears that the United States may be in the early stages of financial turmoil.

The opportunity for insider trading and deep corruption with this gyrating nonsense is vast, as the massive stupidity and unquenchable greed of Trump and his minions competes for dominance. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

German testing agency finds EV batteries last longer than expected - Charged EVs One of the beloved bugaboos bruited by EV boo-birds is that EV batteries will quickly wear out. Now that there are significant numbers of high-mileage EVs on the road, this deceitful dirge has been de...

"DEKRA cites a fleet of Jaguar I-Pace electric taxis that went into service in Munich in 2018. DEKRA tested six of the vehicles in 2024, and found that, with mileages between 180,000 and 260,000 kilometers, the state of health of the traction batteries was between 95 & 97 %."

Worth repeating often

Remember, the alternative to the Trump Regime destroying our government was to tax billionaires a bit more. Now you know why they are doing it.

This is why you fight these cowards.

The moment you stand up to them, they crumble.

Homan has nothing. The Fourth Amendment is clear and I am well within my duties to educate people of their rights.

He can threaten me with jail and call names all he wants. He’s got nothing else.

MAGA’s Sickening Hypocrisy: From β€˜Save The Children’ To β€˜Defund The Org That Actually Saves Children’ After years of screaming β€œsave the children” while baselessly accusing others of exploiting kids, the Trump administration is now trying to destroy the actual infrastructure that saves …

Wrote up just how *actually evil* the demands from the Trump admin to NCMEC are and how they will *absolutely* lead to children dying. From the cultists who insisted they wanted to "save the children" to literally killing them deserves to be called out: www.techdirt.com/2025/02/07/m...

On this national day of shame I choose not to focus on Donald Trump and his awful, miserable and pathetic people. I choose to focus on Dr. Martin Luther King and our better angels.

No matter where you fall on the TikTok ban, the President undoing by β€œexecutive order” a law passed by Congress and upheld unanimously by the Supreme Court is an unconstitutional abuse of power.

Nice! I might have to look into that lens... I picked up a Sigma 18-55 f/2.8 for my X-T3 during our recent trip to Japan, and it's a bit old-school in the sense that it's great optics for still photos (but my setup lacks any sort of OIS, so not great for videos).

From the Gravity community on Reddit: Lucid Gravity next to Cadillac Escalade Explore this post and more from the Gravity community

This side-by-side is mind boggling. Similar amount of cabin occupant space, cargo room, and range. Except one weight almost THREE THOUSAND pounds more, and has a higher MSRP?? Looks like it is a comparison of wasteful design vs efficient design. #EVs www.reddit.com/r/Gravity/co...

Meanwhile, Teslas don’t have a simple setting in the UI (car or app) to let the car know it will be parked for an extended period of time. Owners have to try to turn off each of the background processes (Sentry Mode, Cabin Overheat Protection, etc etc) or risk returning to a drained battery pack.

I’m very skeptical of that third party Tesla V2L equipment… has there been any independent testing/reviewing of it?

I really, really don't want to do this, but let's do a bit (just a LITTLE BIT) of fact checking about what Zuck said on the Joe Rogan podcast, because this is something I not only followed closely, but also spent time *talking to the actual people at Meta who dealt with this* which WAS NOT ZUCK.

I won't be live-tweeting the inauguration.

Mainly, because I have no intention of watching even one second of it.

But in its panicked retreat from the system it spent years building, Meta may now be putting billions of users at risk. Just because Meta deleted that line about hateful speech causing offline violence doesn't mean it isn't true. And now the company has all but declared open season on immigrants, transgender people and whatever other targets that Trump and his allies find useful in their fascist project.

"I can't tell you how much harm comes from non-illegal but harmful content," a longtime former trust and safety employee at the company told me. The classifiers that the company is now switching off meaningfully reduced the spread of hate movements on Meta's platforms, they said. "This is not the climate change debate, or pro-life vs. pro-choice. This is degrading, horrible content that leads to violence and that has the intent to harm other people."

I talked to 10 current and former Meta employees about the company's surrender to the right on speech issues. All were upset. One person called the changes "a precursor to genocide" www.platformer.news/meta-fact-ch...

X has ~18m daily USA users. @bsky.app, ~1.5m.

Is it worth 20 MINS a day to proactively recruit and bring your friends, neighbors, relatives, businesses, anyone who is or could be a user, to @bsky.app?

If Bluesky ends up with more users than the others, you destabilize musk, zuck, trump.

"Two key findings have emerged. Firstly, death rates were lower in countries that took measures early. Secondly, the need for a surveillance system capable of quickly tracking the community spread of a virus and its impact on hospitals was identified."

History matters. Philosophy matters. Languages and literature matter. Indigenous studies matter. Arts and humanities and social sciences matter. All of them.
