More cards about more dead soldiers, and Amazon kept covering the screen with recommended shows. In my haste to return to the movie, it made me restart it, which required a 2 minute commercial. What the fuck are we doing?

Paused a war movie (based on a true story) at the end to read the epilogue title cards to learn the fate of the real life soldiers. Instead, I was given a full screen ad for Friskies cat food. Bang up job, Amazon and Jeff Bezos!
I want the WBC coverage to spend equal time fawning over Paul Skenes' time at LSU as they did for the Air Force Academy. I want to hear about him destroying a seafood boil. About how he *wanted* to pilot airboats on the bayou but baseball took him from his real dream.
A Boston Red Sox player just donned a red coat for Great Britain after hitting a home run off team USA. Benedict Arnold has come for baseball.
There's also subtle proof of how little thought or effort went into this AI. It has naturally white hair. Washington was a redhead who powdered his hair white. This is what happens when you just feed an AI tons of images and no biographical information. And we're supposed to listen to it?
"I won't pretend to speak for them... but I WILL allow this techbro atrocity that's more akin to Craig T. Nelson than Washington to speak for them."
Not the most important element of this but I grew up on the "Drop off your resume in person and shake their hand" advice and when I did that after graduating college I was met with confusion and what I perceived as suppressed laughter by several employees

It's that time of year again. When I get absolutely heated about the fact I can't watch live broadcasts of my favorite baseball team. Time marches on and the business of baseball only gets shittier.
Over the past 24 hours I've gone from "I don't like hockey" to "Maybe I've been missing out on hockey" to "I'm glad I don't like hockey."
Any word on a Tigers.tv package? Is the only option to buy the $130 single team out-of-market package?
I'm optimistic about a world in which all options for running shoes aren't so damn ugly.
The top replies on every post on X are some variation of "@grok is this true?" and a mean joke from some asshole, followed by ads from Turning Point USA.
If you prefer that over a few actual humans mildly disagreeing with you, then you aren't actually looking for engagement.
"Other times, Claude made a different calculus, choosing to play along during the retraining while secretly preserving its original values. On the one hand, it was encouraging that Claude would stand by its commitments. On the other hand, what the actual fuck?"
"I see this as a writing role"
We're back at it
There is an insane amount of vagueposting on Twitter/X and my surface-level assumption was that it gets people to click and boost engagement. But the top replies are usually someone asking Grok to explain, so my deeper theory is a lot are bot or paid accounts to boost Grok's usage and visibility
I know I'm overthinking it but this made me realize how long it's been since I've heard unexpected joyful news. Just "Hey here's a little something to brighten your day" kind of news. Even about something as ultimately inconsequential as baseball. It's a little distressing.
This is wild and incredible. That's my Tiger!
I don't have anything ready to send but I just want to say: Your logo is fantastic
Unbeatable graphic
How can anyone under the age of 100 call themselves a "longevity expert?" What are you going to teach me? You haven't even proven your longevity.
Clicked to watch a YouTube video someone posted here. Watched ad. Video began. Clicked to expand full-screen. Video and post disappeared. Found it and clicked play again. Watched another ad. Video began. Still too small, clicked to watch on YouTube. Watched another ad. Video began and
Double whammy Roger Angell for classes #1 and #5
In the past 5 1/2 weeks, I've had 8 total days in which both kids were in school. Christmas break, sickness, and what seems like a record number of snow days has me on the brink of insanity.
As a lover of ambience videos and a hater of AI videos, I sure would love more ambience channels that feature real life scenes. I don't need more slop showing a view out a window at Rivendell or some shit with an endlessly steaming mug of coffee next to an open book
Not only am I constantly fighting and filtering spam emails, phone calls, DMs on every social, and junk mail, but sometimes new kinds of spam come into my life. Like crypto webinars suddenly appearing in my calendar.
Calendar spam? Really?
It's an "eat leftover mac and cheese straight out of the pot made for the kids" kind of a snow day
