And your sib, I think, is closer to you than my offspring is to me. As in, in the US.

Since dd is living on the other side of the planet, I am sending her $$$ so she and her partner can have a really fancy dinner to celebrate.

Gah, sometimes I can't believe how _adult_ they are.

Big birthdays this year.

At Sinatra, the music kids held themselves somewhat apart socially but my kid, in drama, had friends in dance, film, and fine arts.

That I agree with. But even in the city, not all arts school are the same.

He went to LaGuardia.

Same years my kid was at Sinatra. The Sinatra kids would never shit on other arts disciplines like that.

But LaGuardia kids didn't mingle as much according to gossip at the time.

Years ago, I was walking to the subway and picked up a little shoe, then a sock, then another shoe, and a small stuffed thing....

2 blocks later a woman came rushing at me w/a stroller & a sock in one hand.

I stopped her & returned everything I'd gathered. Her relief was palpable.

I had dial-up at home, and a cassette tape drive.

I have several women friends who do not own swords. Most of them have a decent kitchen knife or two but that's about it.

My first email was CompuServe. I joined my first online forum in 1996. I've been a community moderator on 4 different websites and helped migrate a community from YahooGroups to an independent forum system.

My first programming class used _punch tape_. In high school. In the 1970s.

Some plays I loved when I was younger, don't work for me now, like Shrew.

I didn't really "get" Richard II until I was in my 30s but it's become a favorite.

The Henry plays (particularly Henry V, but they're all good), Twelfth Night, Richard II, the Scottish play.

List is mutable. Sometimes Much Ado has been there. Sometimes Lear.

Standards have always been Henry V, Twelfth Night, Macb...others have changed as I have.

Democrats may not be able to prevent Mullin's confirmation, but they can certainly turn his track record of offense and stupidity into two days of televised humiliation so spectacular that he is wounded in Trump's eyes from day 1. That is the job.

I’m thrilled to welcome the @pwhlpa.bsky.social to the @aflcio.org as our 65th union!

Women’s hockey players are inspiring a new generation and building power on and off the ice. America’s unions are stronger with the PWHLPA in our union family. bit.ly/4lkwBis

Goodness, all I remember about that movie is how terrible that was. Saw it in the theater with a group of friends and walked out feeling like our brains needed cleaning.

Never saw the other one.

I was in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade when I was a child.

My high school occupied the 13th and 14th floors of an office building.

Then NYC's LES, where he stayed at the boarding house run by my great-grandparents. And married the landlady's daughter!

Mom's side did some farming in Brooklyn and someone owned a garage/was a mechanic. Dad's side did retail: appetizing store, then liquor store.

Dad's dad concealed his background, so I assume it was abusive. He was in his 20s when he came, having run away from home in his teens to avoid being conscription during WWI.

Wandered around Europe for years, wound up in Mexico working for an oil company.
