We wanted to kick off this month with a special message about what we aim to do as filmmakers and a company. Personally, I think we have done a decent job at living up to this thus far, but we do hope to continue growing and maintaining a safe environment for everyone we work with.

March is Women’s History Month. As a production company founded and operated by women, we set out to make our sets as inclusive and as diverse as possible because we ourselves have been shutout, overlooked, harassed before in a variety of settings and by a variety of different people.

So, yeah, I’ve been kind of quiet here because I’m doing stuff and things.
I love being able to finally see the film take shape and be enhanced by and refined in the editing process. It’s rewarding. Just perfection.

I said dichotomy like sixty times while editing tonight.
Ooooh. I have been waiting so very patiently for Alpha. It being extremely polarizing made me more excited.
It is truly spectacular in every sense of the word. I was not expecting to be so emotionally bowled over by it, but I am eternally grateful I was.
And Titane is one of the weirdest movies that will also make you earnestly cry!
So many requels are actually what I’d call a readaptation of the original and add nearly nothing to the lore or franchise except monetary value. Nia DaCosta should have been the blueprint for how to do it right.
Candyman (2021) was the perfect requel but some people are not ready to talk about that.

A Magnificence in You What’s better than Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn? I ask anyone who makes the mistake of indulging me -- and after I talk about the leopard, the romance, the jailhouse shenanigans of Bringing Up Baby, I tell them about The Philadelphia Story, its added bonus of Jimmy Stewart. I don’t mention the sexism, the slut-shaming, the lecherous men, and instead I imagine Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn hanging out on the set, and I tell anyone who has made the second mistake of believing me that they were both queer, they were bisexual, didn’t you know? I don’t know myself, but it seems a reasonable conclusion, so I steer people that way, and maybe I’ll dream about the movie tonight, but it won’t have an abusive father or an abusive husband, but instead Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart will fall in love in black and white, and Katharine Hepburn will generously donate an egg in the sequel, when they’re ready for children. The time to make up your mind about people is never.
So psyched to start off the New Year with a piece in Dykes and Dolls. 😀 Pick up a physical copy if you're in NYC! 🌈
