Hereβs some Lupinus rivularis in our oak Savannah that could barely be further from dying back over the winter. Even the rivularis I have in containers like the latifolius is looking similar to this. #plantscience #portland

Lupinus seem to have lots of different winter responses. I expected most of them to mostly die back at the top, and that seems like what this βlatifoliusβ is doing. #plantscience
We had our seed starting social at the plant science club this past week. Another successful gathering! #portland
Back after a hiatus. I really need to pick one single social media app to focus on. I was doing some YT, TikTok and insta but I feel about insta or TikTok anymore.
I really like the games that have the sci-fi themed greenhouses or habitats with plants in them, like the one in Prey or Destiny or games like that. I love seeing the futuristic designs! Many of them make some silly choices.
They should get sun all day! Just make sure that the seeds are lightly covered and the soil doesnβt dry up. Lightly covered means gently pushing the seeds into the soil without digging a hole or anything.
Uh oh, youβll never get rid of that one! Itβs slowly taking over my entire yard and even defeating the lawn!
Spying on my squash this morningβ¦. I hand pollinated at least five more flowers as well! #portland #oregon #gardening
California poppy is a spring flower. If you sow them outside now, somewhere with full sun, you may see them pop up next spring. You could sow them in a container inside on a south facing windowsill if you wanted! Youβd probably get some small plants.
PotatOS and I got sent to the brig. #Portland #oregon #rccc #comiccon
Meeting some new robots at comic con and making sure PotatOS makes some new friends. #portland #oregon #rosecity #comiccon #portal
Thanks! I got everything from goodwill yesterday. This was very last minute. I lucked out with the jumpsuit. $10!
Me and gladOS are going to Rose City Comic Con today. #portland #portal #oregon
It may come to that. Iβm gonna wait until the 19th to see if anything changes thoughβ¦
Tried to get scheduled for my yearly Covid vaccine and was DENIED without RX. Hereβs what my primary care had to say about writing a RX for me: #covid #oregon #portland #vaccines
Snakes are garden friends! Encourage snakes to live in your garden by offering lots of hiding places, sunning spots, and water sources. #gardening #portland #oregon
Boy I sure do love autoclaving water every day to irrigate my plants with. π© #research
Canβt have those toes out for free!
These baby delicatas look like cucumbers, haha. Theyβre all related! #gardening #squash #portland #oregon

Fine! I spoke to several people about the plant science club and told them to make sure to come back to our big club celebration the first week of school (October 1stβ¦). I got free lunch for my table time haha.
Doing my part today to snag incoming freshmen for biology and the plant science club. #portland #oregon #portlandstate
Though these phosphor particles were injected, I wonder what barriers exist for making them root-absorbable?
In more glowing plant news, some Chinese researchers have published their studies on injecting phosphor particles into succulents. Interesting! #science #plants #research #botany

Two days of growth post pollination. These winter squash really grow fast! #gardening #vegetables #portland #oregon
Oh I definitely have to try that one out!! Thank you!
I made a short video on how I perform the hand pollination of my firefly petunias. This is all self pollination, no crossing for now!

I believe itβs the second one, but the second and third ones are nearly indistinguishable except for more defined lines on one of them. The first is delicata and the third is jack o lantern. The last variety I planted was small sugar squash, which will look more like small jack o lantern.
The shape of the ovary on female squash plants reflects the final shape of the fruit. Hereβs one of each of the varieties I planted. Can you guess which one is the Hubbard? #botany #gardening #plantscience #portland #oregon
This weekend I went with a lab mate to observe some Lupinus Lepidus in the field up at Mt Hoodβs White River Sno Park. It was beautiful! #botany #research #nativeplants #biology #oregon
