that people shouldn't seek out treatment, but i do think there is a tendency to view something like ADHD in the same way as other illnesses as something that your doctor can give you meds for and it'll go away, when the reality is more complicated for people, and that acceptance or embracing that

personally, i think the intent behind saying something like that is more meant to highlight that where we draw the line between illness and "normal" is actually more to do with our culture than objective truths about a particular condition. that doesn't mean that the line is necessarily wrong or
