A plush red book that says, "I like my men fictional."
I saw this and my brain read, "I like my men functional," instead. π

As a Jew, I am actively afraid of Pete Hegseth.
I feel like we collectively need a better word than "tired," to describe our current state of existence. The word can't carry the weight, the word itself is tired. We can do better.
If you are sitting and idling in a handicapped spot with neither tag nor sticker on your car then you are an unrepentant asshole and you deserve terrible things.
Double stupid because 1. He got in the first place and 2. He never got it removed
My whole family was awake unusually early this morning and the real problem with this is that they turned on all the lights. Why would they do that. Early morning hours are for sitting in the dark with coffee, silently contemplating the horrors of existence.
When you can't remember your last one. π₯΄
Major hygiene (sleep included) lapses were always the five alarm fire for me.
1. The ability to recognize toxic love in our society is painfully uncommon.
2. The ability to read (and think!) critically is also painfully uncommon.
π«
... on that uplifting note, I'm off to try and correct those problems with my current crop of students! π€£

As an English teacher, WH is interesting because of the ways that it shows *generational* trauma - it's much more of a portrait of unhappy families rather than a love story between two people (which is how the new movie is presented). Jane Eyre has some of that but not as much.
Nah. Probably due to some combo of
1. spices aren't manly
2. flavor will make them gay
3. Spices are ethnic (because we all know it is pale skinned people doing this)
π«
I hated it and much preferred Jane Eyre instead (Which has its own β¨problemsβ¨ but it IS ultimately a great love story).
"Girl dinner" was at least hilarious.
It's snowing. Again. π«
Teaching denotation vs connotation by just saying, "it's Monday."

With the Ides comes Caesar's death and like, I dunno if we are gonna get that lucky.
People throw around the phrase, "go touch grass" frequently and it's become a metaphor where it really should be taken literally.
It's a balmy 60 degrees today, we've had a brutal winter, the world is in the toilet, and every single one of my neighbors is outside and laughing. I guess the world can't end today even if all bets are off for tomorrow.
Having a problem being a human today but I got dressed and I'm sitting on my porch in the sunshine with a big floppy hat watching my kid ride her bike so I guess there's that.
There's already enough struggle in life naturally. I don't know why we have to make it so much harder for ourselves.
Heaven is a corned beef, coleslaw, and Russian dressing sandwich so full and drippy you take your wedding rings off before you eat it so you don't have to clean them later. ππ
Yes, we should get rid of men.
"BOSS, THE FASCISM" lives in my brain rent-free all day every day now.
I'm the opposite and wander into the kitchen and eat myself and then later I ask my daughter what she had for breakfast or lunch and she's like, oh nothing. π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ Unscheduled weekend days are hard.
Hockey's always been very pale. Baseball is fascinating though because blackball was huge throughout the early 20th century. So many teams and amazing players! Integration was a big deal for several decades but then there has been a steep decline in AA players in the last forty years or so.
No worries!!
I figured as much. So taking out those players, this graph about partisanship by sport and racial makeup by sport would still be pretty revealing.
Yes, I know that. I was saying that there is a correlation between the racial makeup of different sports and their political affiliation. There was a comment about considering Canadians in hockey and Afro-Caribbean players being in that racial graph and I said those players can't vote.
Alex Ovechkin has played for the Caps for twenty years but isn't a citizen and can't vote. This graph looks like it only applies to American voters that play those sports.
