Lord & Miller are pretty unassailable. Wes Anderson (though I haven’t seen FMF myself). Tim Burton may have the rep, depending who you ask—I know somebody else did the bulk of the directing work on those movies but don’t really know that Burton didn’t direct in some way

and on the other side: what shipper would trust that they'd get their money? and which one of them is dumb enough not to see how much *more* that puts a target on their crews' backs

yeah, I still kind of think they're going to walk that back, or provide terms that aren't worth taking, because it's so clearly insane when we don't have the resources to protect every ship from a literal 1-man drone team hanging out on any rock anywhere along like 150 miles of Iranian coast

When you say someone—someone from the media? Someone from your campaign?

Someone—[it] would’ve been a question if I had a white supremacist tattoo. And I said, of course not. That’s insane, because I’m not now, nor ever have been, anyone that—in fact, I’ve lived a life dedicated against antisemitism. This is a core of who I am as a person, which, I will say, makes all of this, essentially, doubly insulting. But then late last week, someone reached out to the campaign—I forget from what news outlet—saying there was this story that I have some kind of white-supremacist–slash–hate tattoo. I want to make this clear: I joined the United States Army with this tattoo. I went to MEPS [Military Entrance Processing Stations]. When you join the service, you get checked for gang and hate tattoos. I went to work for the State Department as a contractor with a full physical, which does the exact same thing. I have had this tattoo for 18 years. My sister-in-law is Jewish, and so is my extended family.

Your sister-in-law whom you are singing to in the video?

That is correct. And I take my shirt off all the time, because I work on a boat. I’ve been going through life with this thing, and it has literally never come up. So I don’t mean to get defensive—but there’s an absurdity here. If I thought that I had a Nazi tattoo, I would not have just been taking my shirt off in front of everybody. I just had a skull and crossbones that I got when I was in the Marine Corps.

This interview, the primary source for your AP story, is also non-specific, but doesn't use the misleading phrasing "my sister-in-law's wedding", which is not something anyone would ever call their brother's wedding--it just came out sounding that way from context

update: this nerd-sniped me enough that I actually went to Instragram of all places.
In the original source video he specifies: it's his brother's actual wedding, 10 years ago, and has nothing to do with his wife. The SIL is his brother's wife

I’ve read nothing beyond your screenshots here, dk anything about what siblings he may have

But the passage isn’t a direct quote from him, and I don’t know if the fact it doesn’t say anything about his own wife meaningful or not

Just seems like you wouldn’t call her SIL if she was your brothers ex

I’m just doing the math on the two types of “sister-in-law”, and which one’s wedding you might attend
Brother’s wife?
Or wife’s sister?
The former seems unlikely, and the latter seems to suggest that the wife is Jewish, or at least is from a Jewish blended family 😕
Either way the writing isn’t clear

That password is protecting the value of *their* content. I don't care if someone steals my Netflix password; they're keeping their service from being exploited. My bank account, though? Yes, the security measures are protecting me...

Same distinction with the Maps API keys vs Gemini usage keys

03.03.2026 23:15 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Sometimes you'll see podunk sites that want security questions for password resets, and: why do *I* care? So no one can post fake comments under my name on your newspaper site? I lose more value by sharing my mother's maiden name with that site than the value of what *I* have in their databases

03.03.2026 23:13 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

We need to do a better job of differentiating "needs to be secure so no one steals something that will significantly hurt the user" vs "needs to be secure so no one gets the service for free from the company"

I'm sure this isn't a new idea (not a security guy) but it needs to be widespread

03.03.2026 23:13 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

TLDR: they apparently-inadvertently elevated the permissions already-public Maps and Firebase keys have, if they're connected to the same project. No hard distinction between API keys that can be shared with everyone and keys that should be kept secret because 3rd parties will use them on your dime

did you see this earlier?
if the "stolen API key" was actually this, I don't think they're going to get away with "shared responsibility"

I don't know that I get "emo" well enough to conclude it isn't rock, but I'm saying they turned down the rock knob as they turned up the number of words they put in their band name on their album covers

Charlotte man says ICE agents detained his partner during early morning traffic stop The two men initially believed the blue lights were from Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and pulled over.

One thing I've noticed from watching some local news is that ICE abductions are being reported with the same tone as stories in the crime beat. We talk a lot about how local news gives people the impression that crime is a worse problem than it is, but it also might 1/
