This is why character is important. It is the scale on which we balance the truthfulness of campaign promises. When we set it aside, we reap the consequences now playing across the headlines. Character matters.
The United States is in a historic decline because one party was willing to overlook a lifetime of dishonest, unethical behavior in favor of tribal hopes of greatness. Now its constituency is suffering in the wake of policies that are ruining their lives and livelihood.
In their breathless positioning of scientific neutrality, never once does it dawn on them that they were hand picked to draw a conclusion already reached. It reads with all the informed science of your racist uncle at a Thanksgiving debate.

There was a massive rally for trans rights in Montgomery today. So many people are deeply afraid as the government demonizes them. And for what? Nothing is gained. Nobody’s life is bettered by bullying a trans person.

Yes it’s horrible. But I think the real takeaway here is that one side recognizes decades of scientific data that supports the importance and need for gender affirming inclusion and the other side thinks sex is affixed at conception. Let that sink in.

When the anti-trans coalition came to AL, I was asked to meet with proponent reps about their support. 100% offered these bills, not as solutions to a problem, but because out-of-state interest groups asked. For one rep, I was the first trans person they’d ever met. The anti-trans movement is a lie.
