You’ve sent more than 1,200 postcards to Mayor Dickens. They’re all inspiring and genuine. But Tyler says it succinctly, "True transit equity would be Eastside rail AND Southside rail. Beltline Rail Now!"
They are the purest form of expression, and each represents one person who dares to believe his or her voice matters, and that the Mayor will hear their appeals. We believe this now more than ever, because today we celebrate that essential idea that makes this a glorious land.
As we the people celebrate July 4, let’s continue to work to elect leaders who will listen to us and respect our choices. We believe that democracy still matters, and these postcards are a testament that people want their leaders to hear them.

There are many ways to spin it, but veteran reporter and native Atlantan Maria Saporta describes what the Mayor has done as tantamount to a betrayal. He’s not only betrayed his own long-held position. He has canceled the promise of building Beltline rail during his term as mayor.

The business owners interviewed are from all over the city -- Westview, Adair Park, Old Fourth Ward, Reynoldstown, Poncey-Highland and Midtown. All want better connectivity along the Beltline for their customers, staff and for a more accessible city of Atlanta. They want light rail on the Beltline!

Business For Beltline Rail Now! spoke with Satterfield who is concerned about ATL's future. How will employees & customers get to work and home in a city already choking on its traffic and fumes which is getting worse every month?
It wasn’t always that way. Miller Union was an island outpost back then, and there was next to no crosstown traffic for Satterfield’s commute to work. There were only abandoned warehouses and institutional businesses around it.
The Creative Class is for Beltline rail too. Steven Satterfield, long an Inman Park resident, will open Madeira Park, a new wine bar in Poncey-Highland, his first creation since the groundbreaking Miller Union opened in 2008 in what is now the city’s hottest westside district West Midtown.
It’s clear what Higgs believes is an essential need for Atlanta’s explosive growth: regionally coordinated plans that include Beltline transit, where we can start building out Atlanta’s transit network core to serve the city AND the region.

Trail and transit can go hand-in-hand and complement each other to provide the transit equity we need. This idea began with our Atlanta Beltline’s inception 20 years ago and is now being copied all over the world.
Beltline rail promises to provide not only a sustainable future through ease of connectivity to all parts of our city but also relief from continued crushing traffic gridlock as our city experiences more and more rapid growth.
Critics want to redefine the Beltline as only a trail, an amenity for those privileged enough to have easy access. But this thought process represents a total pivot away from the Beltline’s core objective as a project uniting 45 in-town neighborhoods.

They will also need to vote on funding and right-of-way issues for the existing streetcar to ensure a smooth connection to the SCE, plus decisions regarding improvement to the current streetcar.

Atlanta City Council will make important decisions regarding the Streetcar East Extension (SCE). They can consider funding solutions that will affect the entirety of Beltline rail.

The two candidates in the runoff election for Atlanta City Council Post 3 At-Large are Ms. Eshé Collins and Dr. Nicole Evans Jones. This is one of 3 citywide seats accountable to all city residents.
Atlanta has a crucial runoff election going on. Early voting begins Sat, 11/23, and ends Wed, 11/27. Election Day is Tues, 12/3.

Bob Amick, owner and founder of Concentrics Group, came out against Beltline rail on the Eastside Trail in an AJC editorial earlier this week. Two Urban Licks, one of Concentrics’ restaurants, sits on the Eastside Trail.
We think there is some naked self-interest at play here.
Piedmont Park is getting a new comprehensive plan for the next 20 years, and the Piedmont Park Conservancy wants to hear from you! Make sure Beltline rail is part of the comprehensive plan by taking the survey, but act fast by 11/18 so your voice counts!
