After The Hum became silent, many of the Pylon People who had spent years following below its electric ley, went to live in canal boats on the cut. Often they moored close if not below transmission towers. Still at the ragged margins, waiting for The Hum to return. Waiting to march to again.

The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 64, "Barbershops of the Floating City" by Grace P. Fong: A woman stands facing the viewer, her qipao is a light blue color with flower designs in a darker shade of blue. Her long, black hair trails elegantly behind her while she holds a pair of scissors close to her chest. Behind there is a shadow that looks in the opposite direction, as if she is looking down at the city depicted below. At the top is a sun that crowns the two figures and bathes the entire picture in light. The quote reads: "I enter this forest with immolation

The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 66, "Listen To Me And I'll Tell You A Story" by Ejiwa "Edge" Ebenebe: In the depths of the sea a little girl sits on what looks to be a giant pink/green octopus tentacle. Several other tentacles extend in the background, curling in the depths. Towards the front and surrounding the little girl is a school of pink fish, some of them stop to listen as she holds one finger up. She looks like she is about to start telling a story. On the lower right corner, another school of fish is making its way over the tentacles, towards the edge of the cover. The quote reads: "They came with machetes
asked if we knew the way to Wonderland.

We were built to love
the dead, to open our mouths
and sing praise to broken"

Goodnight from Lucas Bradley, carefully making dust sigils as he beds down for another night of rough sleeping in the crypt of St. Brewald’s. Goodnight from Stedman’s Scrapyard, where cars protest the crusher in rust rasp voices and metal screams into the wind. Goodnight from Hookland.

The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 62, β€œMermay - Golden Hour" by Maxine Vee: In a forest of brown, orange, and golden leaves, a mermaid with orange/gold hair sits on a rock in a small light blue pond. She stares at her open palms, illuminated by a beam of sunlight. Purple flowers in shade lie scattered on the ground in the foreground. The quote reads: "Hence, a watchseed, with the best of intentions. Let’s give the seed-planters that much. They mean well. Crawling from star to star at not-quite-c, they make their surveys, consult their charts, launch a seed now and then. Old thinkers, they make an endless circuit of the galaxy on behalf of young thinkers."

The cover for Uncanny Magazine Issue 65, β€œThe Duet" by Nilah Magruder: Two women sit at a piano. One is wearing a lilac dress with a locket around her neck, her skin is a dark shade and her hair white. Next to her, the second woman is wearing a red dress, and has black hair worn up in a bun-like style. Her head and hand are not attached to her body, giving the impression that she is not human but a robot of some kind. Both are smiling as they play together. The quote reads: "There’s nights in the deep end of summer so hot and thick and wet you can feel the dark wrinkling up your fingers like bathwaterβ€”and my last night breathing was one of those.

2 a.m. came to ring my bell and found me perfectly awake, swinging back and forth on a hanging sweetheart bench with a faded pink and yellow tulip pattern on the cushion."

The generation ship Adams sails through the endless ocean of space protected by a forcefield scoop that surrounds it in a white-blue halo. It glides serenely through the abyss, lonely but powerful. Inside it is a powder keg, ruled by a tyrannical Captain and a crew stirring like mad ants. With just that information, can you foresee divine intervention two galaxies away?
