Right?? My husband and I could only think of the Fallout?
It's so incredibly rare in other communities and where modders get paid it's usually like a donation while the mod itself is free??

Oh definitely don't think there's anything wrong with it, i think if people are willing to pay for someone's content then hell yeah.
It's just not necessarily seen in other communities as an income stream, and there doesn't seem to be this culture of expecting to pay for mods etc
finally updated my age in my bio after 2 weeks..
so scary lol
I love modders and cc creators and stand by that but outside of the sims community you rarely see it as an income stream or side hustle, more of a hobby?
i saw someone post it on .. that other site ... but i don't think i've seen it said here;
In no other gaming community is it as common and normalised for modders to get paid as it is with The Sims community, especially The Sims 4 community.

I just want to say Iβll be subscribing to her Patreon tonight literally. Hope others do the same, letβs encourage this behavior. We canβt control EA. We can control where we put our money.
there's a particular breed of parent i hate
and it's the ones who bring their extremely sick children into public spaces when they're sick with contagious illnesses like colds and stomach bugs
I SOLO WORK. I WILL GET SICK. I AM IMMUNOCOMPROMISED.
remember chat it's always morally correct to pirate ea games
After EA announced the Sims 4 Marketplace, I joked about making my own "billboard" for CC creators.
Well, it works! I finished a framework for main menu override that highlights free community content for PC/Mac. It updates automatically and Iβll be opening sign-ups for free creators soon!
she's so adorable (yet so sassy)
that's so sad :(( It's so hard at the moment, there's just no mobility in terms of work so job opportunities aren't opening up in the way they would have done. Here's hoping you find something for you soon Nika π€
The more you read the uglier it gets.
that's always the worst, when you get the changes coming in and you have to wonder who the hell this is working for lol
i can definitely see this
this is how a lot of my former coworkers were, and I guess me too at my last place. The team made it good, not the owners lol
OH MY GOD THIS!!
I had a coworker at my last job and she would always try and take the good tasks. I had to get really sneaky and hype up the awful tasks so she felt like she was getting a good part of the deal π Like "I looove taking a break to clean all of the bins it's so zen" π
things i'm thankful for at this time
βοΈ My Loving Husband, the center of my universe
βοΈ My gorgeous puppy Lulu who brightens my days
βοΈ Sweet treats, providing comfort and reward
βοΈI live in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK, with clean air and amazing views.
I love this, I've been struggling too much recently with [gestures vaguely] EVERYTHING so yes definitely going to look at the positives for a moment
this miiiight have to go on my list π€
This.
I don't understand people who seem to think you're there to do all the work and they do nothing ?? Or one particular task ??
I had to tell the lass I work with the other day that she's not here to just help me out if it gets busy, but to actually work ??
I have tried applying to be a librarian before but no luck :'(
i think i've applied for every job i can think of, I'd love to go back to hosting Escape Rooms but i need full time hours and it's basically the opposite of full time.
But also i hate people so ... Maybe I need to not do hospitality
ugh that's a nightmare
im kind of in the opposite boat? i'm in a hospitality role with 1 coworker at the weekend and minimal insight.
The owners have me convince each other of things, essentially giving me a bit too much decision making power..
I'm also still into Dress To Impress because i love a little dress up game i cannot lie (Fashion Boutique my beloved i cannot believe how they massacred you)
while i'm speaking into the void - what games are we all playing at the moment?
I'm playing Hitman for the first time. I think I'm up to Hitman 2?? My husband and I are semi-playing together where we take turns completing objectives and eliminating targets or helping each other when we're stuck.
i've heard this rumour that other people enjoy their jobs, i'm just looking to confirm this is true ??
I literally dread work every day, even on easy days like today i'm just kind of like ugh i hate it .
They contacted us in the last year about this "project". The idea sold to us creators was something like "do the same thing as you always do and earn extra money from us!". Unfortunately i can't say MANY things about it because there are contracts and i don't want to risk it for being dumb. I've decided i would be OUT of this thing as soon as november and now I read stuff I really didn't know about, all in here and from YOU, i made the last decision. There were many promises as they really do know how to target cc creators who are either greedy or financially struggling and I do admit that they caught my attention, but as the months got by and as they would ask more and more PERFECTION from us (note: i have no idea who else is at the program. They kept us all anonymous to each other by holding us accountable of "our little secret") i noticed this thing wasn't for me at all. I was REALLY just waiting for the bubble to burst or for them to announce it so I could finally be free to AT LEAST talk about it with you guys because i was SCARED of their contracts. This is now a recommendation to all the other cc creators who were caught in their webs: get out. You can just get out. They can't force you to stay. They can't force you to disappoint your community. It's OKAY to not know better. It's okay to make poor decisions based on your needs. But you need to get out as soon as you know better, or else excuses aren't gonna make you more palatable. Just stand up and get out.
Oh boyβ¦ π¬
The Sims 4 marketplace situation gets worse. EA left out some details when recruiting creators. One bit of good news is itβs still possible for them to back out, as simandy and at least one other person have done.
And the keeping it βour little secretβ tactic sounds childish. Sheesh!
me with the actual child i have to work with
genuinely feels like i can actually breathe and do my job when she calls out lmao
Also Moola is a stupid fucking name and i hate it and i think that's the last thing I want to say on all this because what the fuck your game costs Β£1k+ to buy all the DLC for and you still want more money you greedy little pigs
And then eventually you will have "Moola" on your account and nothing to spend it on. And EA will have won because you essentially gave your money away to receive nothing in return. It's how these in game currencies work.
infact, EA will ALREADY have your money.
If you buy $10 of Moola, you've given EA $10. When you spend your "Moola", they pass on whatever 30% of the Moola you spent would be worth.
