Many thanks to everyone who joined us for the finale ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ป๐ฒ๐โ๐ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฏ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐พ๐๐ฒ๐ at Hackney Town Hall last Friday! We welcomed 100 people from different walks of life - scientists, environmentalists, teachers, students, families, civil servants, councillors & mayor...
easiest would be to build it myself but....... omg not again
pretty amazing that the hands feel very recognisably Steve Jobs
I was worried that might be the only way.........
I've lost a precious book somewhere in my shelves, found a couple of very low review/dodgy android apps for categorising, have to photograph every shelf individually; does either of you recommend anything out there? hoping there's something I can just walk & video without sending all my data out...
Thereโs a week left to visit ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป at Hackney Service Centre, come and see it before it closes on ๐ฒ๐๐ต ๐ก๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ!
๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐น๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป explores the many ways we can tackle the climate crisis through our own actions โ both individually and collectively.
there must be a german word for that's good news but it's actually bad news, which is actually quite good news, but that makes it really really bad news.
Excited to announce my new exhibition Harvesting Climate Action in Hackney! Open to the public at Hackney Service Centre from 1 Oct - 6 Nov 2025. More info visit - lowcarbon.lingql.com/chinatown#ha...
sure! let me see what I can dig up, and def up for a conversation...
anyway this all reminded me of various tangential conversations (and others' work) from back then, along with the things you've been mentioning.... i've got nobody else to mention all this to, but thought this miiight connect to some of your recent reflections on GIS etc from +20yrs ago.....
the platform was built primarily around a map of the connected datastreams because i expected geolocation to be the most important point of human interestโฆ. oh the work i put into that map!! all seems a bit quaint nowโฆ..
first step was extended environments markup language (basically took the construction industryโs IFCโs for buildings to add time, interaction and geolocation dimensions); when i launched Pachube 2yrs later it was all about sharing connected environments (not sensors which it was later used for)
also natalie jโs feral robotic dogs (geolocated environment datastreams), wilfried hou je bekโs โpsychogeographical markup languageโ (subjective relationship to space is key), cybersyn (data only important for decision-making), etc. etc.
RSS + open source space (sharable/reconfigurable real-time spatial relations), buildings having conversations (if they talk, theyโll need datastreams), ron herron walking cities (if they move, theyโll need geolocations)...
i recently went over my earliest grant applications ca. 2005 for a project then called Environment XML (later became a sort of IoT platform/community Pachube); in those docs i see myself trying to connect dots between:
never quite got round to writing this up, dunno but poooossible some of it might be tangentially related to what youโve been discussing recently and/or you miiiight be the only person i can think of who could find this a little bit interesting (pooooossibly only a little bit):
Playing Democracy 2.0 is coming to Ars Electronica Festival 2025! Super stoked to be showing it at Ars Electronica, with a work that is deeply personal and explores many of my interests in participation and the politics of it. The work will be presented as part of Ars Electronica Platform Europe.
me too! esp books....
i also really love this, return to it often, there are two volumes and enough stories to fill days and days.... www.feministpress.org/books-n-z/wo...

๐ฃArtists, creative producers and cultural orgs๐ฃ
I'm working with @artscouncilengland.bsky.social and @theaudienceagency.bsky.social to understand the value of R&D and innovation in arts and culture. If you make or present artistic and creative work, pls spend 10 mins filling out this survey ๐
love this overview of Honor's work; a narrative arc two decades long that lands so elegantly it might seem carefully worked out in advance; yet in a practice of art+research the roles of intuition/curiosity/serendipity/holding nerve when things don't _yet_ make sense!/ is most intriguing of all!
A row of brightly coloured posters against a white tiled wall. The posters say โDesign and Disabilityโ on each left hand bottom corner. On the left lime green poster, a photo of Davina Starr, a member of drag syndrome in a white wig and bright make up under a spotlight. The central light blue poster has a black and white photo of Marvel Harris wrapped in a towel emerging from the sea. The right pink poster is an image of Sky Cubacub in a pink binder and dragon scale headdress.
Design and Disability opens today at the V&A! Weโre so happy to share it with you all. Disabled, Deaf and neurodivergent people and their companions go free. www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/...
