Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.

The family of mice singing “No cheeses for us meeces” in the opening song (“Scrooge”) of THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL (1992), a movie that I saw in the theater at age 10 and which immediately became a formative movie and deeply held family favorite, its annual viewing soon becoming a family tradition, and which has always been incredibly dear to me, even though I consider myself only an average enthusiast when it comes to the Muppets (I grew up with them and still love them with that warm childhood purity but I am not at Disney-Adult-levels of obsession or passionate opinion—but I will say that THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL is one of the best adaptations of Dickens’s story in the entire history of cinema, and no one since ’92 has come remotely close), and which I have always found incredibly moving and beautiful and tragic and redemptive, and which always makes me cry quietly during several key scenes; it is one of my strongest links to childhood memory.

And then call them. It takes so few calls, comparatively, to make it feel like a wave crashing over them. We need to be the wave, again and again.
After ICE did this in Illinois, the Secretary of State revoked the plates, sent a cease and desist to ICE, threatened to suspend rental car licenses for allowing ICE to swap plates and set up a tip hotline to report plate tampering.
MN deserves the same action.

I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.
Help defeat H.R. 3492 and defend trans kids. Marjorie Taylor Greene's "Protect CHildren's Innocence Act" is up for a vote on December 17. The bill would criminalize and outright ban gender-affirming care for trans youth—and imprison doctors for up to 10 years.
Contact your reps by Wednesday, 12/17 to demand that they vote NO on H.R. 3492. Comment, like, and share this post!

On Wed the House is going to vote on two bills, one that would ban Medicaid funding for youth gender affirming care (HR498), the second that would criminalize that care (HR3492) - I expect *at least one* will pass the House, potentially both.
