Ooo, very problematic. Imo this is why laity should always stay in partnership with clergy.
Art from a favorite artist, Walter Inglis Andersonβs βDoves and Pecan Treesβ
I was reflecting on how good it was that Jesus got frustrated with his beloved disciples. Deeply humbling especially as I do love to complain about the shortcomings of the apostles, as if.
Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen. π―οΈ
Prayer of St Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.
I got a cool nightstand that doubles as a book case from my mom, like this ( this is NOT my pristine white room). It saved me a surprising amount of shelf space.
So yes, comb through. You can always manage space later, and pass on what you donβt keep to another hungry wannabe theologian.
Thank you, Emily. Many blessings for your own journey! It will be a happy day!
Officially an oblate with The Benedictine Way!! It may seem like a small step but Iβve been reflecting on what a journey itβs been just to get here. Now the journey continuesβ¦ Pray for me π―οΈβοΈ
Hey Fr. Zacβs my priest! He does give a good sermon, even off the cuff.
Thank you. I am not an AI fan but itβs also here, like gasoline powered vehicles and age.
This is the best approximation of the indescribable us humans could make. Within the story is the miracle of changed hearts and love over death. Beware!
I have heard of more corporately based interpretations with less emphasis on individual participation, whether through atonement and/or salvation. Which⦠can turn things on its head for me.
I share in your guilt, Marguerite π
After reverently preparing the chalice and altar for all Godβs beloved children to sup from tomorrow, I went to Costco on a Saturday and Iβm back to my baseline levels of disgust and annoyance with humanity. #altarguild #ewpeople #thatwasclose βοΈ
Let not the needy, Oh Lord, be forgottenβ¦ π―οΈ
Incarnation Monastery or www.thebenedictineway.org is in Omaha, adjacent to a small church, and more simple and home style. I go regularly and have found much spiritual rest and renewal there.
My pet project to very very slowly Lectio the psalms really helps the office land. Usually my mind wanders during the repetitive text ( yes yes, you are a worm, David. God still loves you) but when my inner ear perks up βhey, I know that one!β I tend glean much more from it in real time. βοΈ
Ooo, thank you for the rec!!
Whatβs fun is the endless contractions of yβall.
Yβallnβt, yβallβd, yβallrnβt, yβalldβveβ¦ it makes better sense when spoken.
Yβallrnβt going to hell in a handbasket βcause yβallβve been saying yβallsβ prayers.
* fires up PowerPoint
Yβall ( You all) is used pretty liberally for two or more people here. But if weβre talking crowds or universal humanity, then βAll of you allβ or all yβalls is appropriate. And yes, all yβallβs bodies is grammatically acceptable
This is the way of the South US
Congratulations! Many blessings for your candidacy!
Oh and I guess I technically did get evangelized into TEC because I asked my friend where did he go to church after not finding my home in other denominations. He had been writing about his life as a Jesus follower and I eventually realized he was weird enough for me to sit next to in church.
Not discrediting this argument- we are far too timid in evangelism. But having grown up RC, other denominations tend to get blanketed as βjust protestant.β Church shopping was hard and I was pleasantly surprised to find TEC was not a holy roller tent revival style service with Christian rock songs
I didnβt make it to building church because I was in wilderness church this morning, but I do need prayers. Have to break some hard news to a loved one today, as well as start from scratch on a family matter. Please and thank you βοΈπ₯Ί
I certainly count it. Sometimes Iβll say a line or two, the Lordβs Prayer, and read the rest silently
Iβve peeked at her on titok and really like her content. But also seriously impressed with her ability to pay off her 150k debt for a chance at monastic life. Now Iβm eyeing my student loan debt ( that just wonβt budge!)
I am really appreciating these Stations of the Resurrection. I get a better sense of the incredulous joy the disciples must have felt π―οΈ
I did this last Lent too! It was delightful to visit new communities and it helped me to discern my next steps! Iβve been wanting to do another church pilgrimage for fun at some point.
Itβs how it is sometimes, isnβt it?
At least Easter is near π₯
