Spent the weekend putting together servers for another cyber student club.

I wouldn’t recommend it, the original case is much sturdier and you lose a mount point for the primary m.2 port. But the thermals were slightly better.

Having an 8th gen i5 with 8GB of RAM makes this thing quite overpowered for my use case.

If I could only afford more storage!

I decided I need a portable video server, since we travel to places with intermittent signal and limited internet.

Had a great turnout for OC2600 on Friday, with over 70 individuals from all over Southern California showing up!

We had a few ad-hoc activities, like tearing down a PlayStation 5, another rebuilding the Kubernasty with upgraded Chromeboxes. Lots of student cyber clubs sharing notes.

Our newest addition to the weird at the @defconscavhunt.bsky.social table; Trauma Dump Hacker Confessional. I created the logos and glitch art that played on our “priest screen” along side installing the cloud. A late start project, so it’ll be a little more dressed up in the coming years.

I hate that cutting it close is my normal. I want one year where everything is just ready and I can relax.

We had a screening a week or two ago at the 23b Hackerspace. All the new kids were screaming when they realized you shot some of the interviews in our shop.

In the process of upgrading the network at 23b. We resurrected ID4con (since it coincided with OC2600), @zhoratrope.bsky.social finally got to play with steel wool poi, and painted some bricks.

Should have come to ID4con at 23b.
