Calling Cormac McCarthy’s authorial style a “mistake” that AI no longer makes is so funny

TIL Trump didn't bother to refill the strategic petroleum reserve last year when oil was dirt cheap. what can you even say www.ft.com/content/d546...
being a hater doesn't pay well, but at least you get listed as a risk factor in their SEC filings
If you were a regular, they would start making your espresso when they saw you walking up, and hand it to you out of order.
"... pumpkin spice chipotle grapefruit quarter-oat-quarter-soy-half-skim ..."
What do you want to bet this little tantrum on the WaPo's opinion page is because someone ahead of Professor Jakub Grygiel in the queue at some coffee shop had an elaborate coffee order and he hasn't been able to let it go ever since
Easiest anti-terror policy is literally right in front of the US+UK et al:
- Stop trying to be in the Middle East. Just stop.
But of course, reading that you sound like the kind of idiot who'd be fine with endless MENA wars
Iran made and released this video.
Kind of thinking they’re not just going to roll over.
"Emotional support war".

Four years ago, I interviewed a woman who did an abortion rights chalking in front of Susan Collins home, which Collins then called the cops over.
Now, that woman, Andrea LaFlamme (IDed by her nickname, Jane, in my story) is running for Collins’ senate seat. www.buzzfeednews.com/article/juli...
As this was happening you were told shoplifting and home invasions were grave threats you needed to abandon any pretense of sympathy to address.
Pie R square.
Joe, you'll be missed. Your performance at Woodstock remains a pure moment in American history.
PLUS this is artificial scarcity caused by Caltrain. The bike cars have run full for many, many years, e.g. from 2010: dr2chase.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/m...
The demand is clearly there, and longstanding.
Most of the space used is the bicycle itself. 40 bicycles take the same space as 80 seats for people, so by a space argument, a passenger+bike should pay 3x normal ticket price. Getting all picky about space and price now, has an elitist/serious/recreational cyclist whiff to it.
I am so old ... Old Yeller
Fox ran older footage but labeled it as happening Saturday.
"But have you asked an LLM for advice yet?"
But again, caution is feminine coded. The Army is being run by real men these days.
I’m not a betting type of girl but if I were I would say that people in charge are gonna demand we do an amphibious landing like D-Day because of manly nostalgia
There's also, "what do *I* (or you) think an LLM is appropriate for?" versus "what will a cost-shaving capitalist think an LLM is appropriate for?"
And also, thank goodness my retirement is funded. (But can we please avoid destroying the economy/world on which it depends?)
my main point: a lot of people who are skeptical of AI are speaking from a place of pretty damn rational and reasonable anxiety about what their future looks like, not just petty beefs about being outclassed at trivia (and like, Wikipedia has existed for a very long time, so what)
I agree that it’s silly to claim that LLMs Can’t Do Anything (obviously they can do many things). I also think it’s silly to claim LLMs Can Do Everything (obviously they can’t).
regardless of how one feels about that, this is a very scary time to need a job and people are reacting accordingly
They've gone and shrinkflationed a dozen ..
On this day in 1983, New Order released the best-selling 12" single in the world - 'Blue Monday'
