The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy review – flimsy extravaganza needs deeper thought The madcap sci-fi tale is retold on a lavish scale, complete with in-show merch, but it never really blasts off

I went to the opening night of the new Hitchhiker’s stage adaptation and I can confirm it’s ill-considered in every sense of the word. I loved it! The performers were giving everything they got. Move over Punchdrunk, your time is over.

I LOVED this piece on the optometrist by Kate and all the eye-based allegories. It got me thinking about Ruskin's 'innocent eye' and furore it subsequently incited in the art history world. Or the eye in Un Chien Andalou, a scene from a 1929 film that I still believe to be the apex of body horror.

My photos from the largely abandoned Expo β€˜92 site in Seville. Most of the original structures were demolished but some remain.

I wrote about the new @dulwichgallery.bsky.social ArtPlay Pavilion by Carmody Groarke for @recessedspace.bsky.social. It led me down a rabbit hole that took me from south London to the Serpentine.

This article took a while but it turns out there’s lots to learn about housing at this year’s Venice Biennale.

I went to visit Space House ahead of the London Society event in a few weeks time. It’s even better than I dared hope for. The attention to detail from Squire and Partners is amazing.

How do you kickstart an infill housing boom? Could more infill housing give the government a swift but significant win in its rush to build 1.5 million new homes by 2030? Richard Waite looks at the issues holding back small-scale development and...

GREAT article from the @news.architectsjournal.co.uk all about infill housing. They spoke to many architects, including fourth_space and Archio.

Work on up to 12 new towns in England to begin by next election, says Starmer About 100 potential locations identified as government vows to sweep away red tape to get them built

Fascinating to see that β€˜New Towns’ will really be urban extensions and that the government is aware that agencies like National Highways can block development. And what’s that I see about the β€œcharacter” of housing reflecting local history…?

Yes, surely that’s the best way to commemorate someone and serve the public good! But you know it’s going to be some kind of fountain or totem.

It’s not really about the architecture though is it. M&S is a premium British brand and Oxford St has got to be the most famous shopping area in the country. The campaigners made this all about setting a precedent but it’s gone the wrong way now…
